Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very entertaining set of filters. Realse let you apply color effects and image quality in a fast and secure. You can combine up to three different filters simultaneously further expanding the creative possibilities.
Cons: The kit is very easy to install, maybe get a little tricky when you want to change the filters and not affect the current position of the camera, because they are a little tight in the holder.
Other: Thoroughly recommend this kit for those who want to play with your photographs
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Buying such kit at professional level would be cost prohibitive for most individuals (a single filter can cost hundreds of dollars... ), so it's perfect to experiment. Dramatically change mood or use the ND filters to use wider appertures in bright light. Comes with different lens barrel adapters (nothing above 67mm though). You can stack up to three filters.
Cons: The filters are made of resin (and not tinted glass), so they will... a) scratch easily, mark and dent very easily b) collect dust like crazy (it's resin, so it collects static electricity...) Use compressed air often! The whole setup is plasticky, so it looks and feels cheapish. Not sure the filters will be lightproof over time, nor that the ND filters are truly neutral. As opposed to professional filter holders, installing and removing filters is cumbersome and takes time. It's not cheap for nothing.
Other: Great to try your hands at filters (yes you can do it in post, but sometimes it pays to put it in the can with real optical tricks). But not worth it for professional use on a big set :-). Would probably not survive extensive outdoor shooting.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's extremely cheap. I wanted to try out using camera filters, and after considering many options i chose this. The original "P system" costs way way more, and for experimenting this will do. Most of the filters are fine. They do what they are supposed to: reduce the intensity of the light and add some color effects. The ND ones have a slight color cast to purple, but nothing unfixable by software.
Cons: First of all, the holder is really bad. It has 3 slots for filters. The front and rear ones have plastic "clamps" that make the slot too narrow for the filter to slide in. You can, of course, force it in, bit it's cumbersome to use. The middle slot doesn't have these bumps to hold the filter so the filter falls out. Also the adapter rings supplied with the holder an incompatible with the original P system holders: they are too narrow and fall out. Avoid using ND8 filters. They have a severe purple cast, and affect sharpness considerably, especially on tele lenses.
Other: I would buy the filters again, but would buy a different holder.
