Dropad 7" Multi-Touch Screen Google Android 2.2 Tablet PC w/ WiFi/HDMI/Camera/TF/USB(Cortex-A8 1GHz)

Pros: This is a very responsive resistive touch-screen unit. The 2.2 Froyo is fast on this 1 ghz. unit. I am very happy with my purchase.
I installed the "Launcher 1.5" APK. on this unit and I now love the layout of icons.

Cons: The Market was limited when I received the unit, not allowing you to search/find apps that are compatible. After installing the above mentioned "Laucher 1.5" APK it opened up some addition apps.

Other: This is a Dropad, so at least it is a name-brand item.
Good tablet for the price. Looking forward to future upgrades....

Pros: - Very very fast. (Almost equivalent specifications to the Galaxy Tab)
- Bright crisp display.
- Speaker is pretty good
- Cheaper than a Galaxy Tab

Cons: - Mine arrived defective, with bubbles in the screen under the plastic.
- First time I pressed the home button, the bezel cracked
- No full Market access

Other: If you want something like this, this seems to be a very good choice. If defective, you'll be angry like me.

Pros: Doesn't have the Nvidia Tegra chipset, but for most things, I don't think you'd notice. RAM holds multiple web pages, background services, and various other things I downloaded, all with no sign of slowdown. runs angry birds (3 different versions) with no errors, , I loaded mercury msn, very slick user interface, simple flick brings other task bar loaded apps down to cover it. Some things close every time, some will stay live in the task bar. Runs kindle, android market, lots of other fun apps such as:
ant smasher, fruit slice, kids doodle, lightracer and lightracer 3D (very tron, cool graphics and sound), samba explorer, shooting tomcat, turbofly3d, wave blazer light, youtube, many more I haven't included.
Load flash to view the web page videos that won't otherwise.

Cons: Very occasionally crashes and recovers paradise isle on restart. (from market, free app) Took about 3 weeks from order to arrival.
I can't get bluetooth working as an auxialiary, perhaps it's me? flash drives and mice work fine. if you're getting this, search for DX for mini USB and get a pair of the mini USB to USB socket adaptors, it only comes with one, and you might want to run a keyboard and a 3G modem at the same time.

Other: Very pleased. Son in law wants one badly. Only ever seems to give noticeable lag on opening up paradise isle, maybe 6 seconds?, and load of few other games. playing, now issues at all, screen very fast. Android 2.2 doesn't seem to have the hover over popups, even with the mouse, I think it's the OS, not the tablet.
No Bluetooth, has options for external 3G of WCDMA Huawei E220,E1750,E156G, ZTE MF637U, CDMA2000 and TD-CDMA if this helps anyone. Brouse youtube for dropad if you want to see videos of this tablet in action. With the 1Ghz processor with graphics co-processor on board, and the half gig of RAM, pinch zoom operations appear instant.
I looked a long time at the DX tablets before picking this one, I'm very pleased.

Pros: -Sturdy Build Quality. -Fast processor, little or no lag time. -Resistive Touch Screen is Very Good. -Good Picture Quality. -Battery life is Good. - My favorite generic tablet so far.

Cons: -I've only owned two tablets so I'm no guru at all.... this tablet seems heavy for its size, however, I have never compared it to any other brand of tablet to see if this is a common weight or not. -The App Market that is included on this tablet is not a "full" market in comparison to my Android cell phone or 10.1" tablet. It is evidently limited. (Research online will reveal work-arounds for this.)

Other: Overall I think this is a pretty nice tablet, built sturdy and has good battery life....... I would recommend it if you are looking for a nice Android 2.2, 7" tablet, for the price. I really enjoy it.

Pros: - Excellent capacitive screen
- Super fast processor
- Very well built, looks very solid
- HD 1080 is very fluid and does not break
- It could update, I put the android 2.3, very easy to do!
- DealExtreme has the best price of the entire network
- Good battery life (5 o 6 hs)

Cons: - Wifi does not have much power, compared to a netbook!
- Is heavy for size, I imagine the quality of materials
- Market is not full, I Download applanet, is better!
- The camera is not good, but doing well

Pros: This is *really* a good option of tablet, I think it is the best.
The touchscreen is unbelievably responsive, to the point that makes you wonder! Better than many branded android phones.
It is also really well-built, doesn't feel like cheap chinese crap like many other skus.
Comes with the (limited) Google Market installed, better than none.

Cons: ***Android Application Market is limited due to this device coming from China***, this is a utter pain in the a**, no Skype, no Kindle, etc.
It comes with a third-party application called "Int'l Market" which lets you download things not allowed by Google's Android Market, but I was not able to find Kindle on that.

Other: So far, this was a really nice order from DX, the only drawback is being rated for China, which is a supervised/limited market for Android, don't bother having an IP address on a valid country, if your device is chinese you will be limited.

Pros: Unit shipped 5 days after order and arrived in AU in under 10 days total. Initially decided to buy a tablet for the kids to watch movies in the car, but looked at the pricing and thought may as well go for the Dropad as it Plays games, has Internet and basically all the features of a high end Samsung tablet/smartphone. Build quality seems very good and the unit feels very solid to touch. It is worth spending the extra dollars to get the capacative touchscreen over other cheaper tablets as it really enhances the usability of the device. Unit was shipped with latest v2.2 Android firmware and seems very solid and speed is good, already there i some v2.3 beta code available and you could expect a full gingerbread release shortly. Video playback is good clear and sound quality fine from internal speaker. Battery life seems to be about 4-6hours continuos use. I have run many 3D games on it and the clarity and speed are fine. Sandstorm, Hawx, Asphalt, Assasins Creed all run without issue or LAG. Plugged a HuaWie 3G USB stick and works fine for mobile broadband as does built in WiFI. In Summary Very Good Generic Tablet which is well supported in Android Forums and easy to use nd customise.

Cons: Minor cons the unit is a little heavy especially using for a few hours 1 handed.
Android Market - as this unit has a generic devicetype set in its firmware many applications are not shown in the Market place as available. However this is easily worked around as you just download the APK files from Internet and copy to microSD and plug in the side and install whatever you need.
Does not come with a protective case

Other: Good quality unit especially for the price. I am very happy with this purchase.

Pros: Via USB host it is possible to connect many devices including a generic USB hub, USB mouse and keyboard (I use a DELL keyboard, and a Microsoft LED mouse). Mouse works a bit slow for my liking but works, keyboard works but does not recognize the numeric keypad. Numbers and math symbols need to be entered via the numeric keys on the clavier (not the numeric keypad).
This device runs 2D & 3D games, SOME 1080p video, MOST 720p video, and ALMOST ALL 480p/DVD quality video!
A great device to experiment with, and learn the Android/Linux operating system!

Cons: Since it has many flaws (is after all a cheaper device), I have summoned most negative points of this device in this thread (quite large):

Other: This device is well worth as a low level tablet.
Good for the kids, playing around with Linux, and save the big bucks for when Tegra 3 tablets become available.
It is made with Asian tolerances, in my opinion that means half the price of the device at the cost of giving up perfection. Not at all bad, and can save you some serious $$$, but if you want perfection, this tablet is NOT the right tablet for you!

Pros: Possibly the cheapest price for the Dropad A8 tablet across the network! This thing is amazing powerful for its price, with a 1ghz processor and a good graphics card (SGX540) (Nearly the same chipset as the Samsung galaxy tab/S).
The touch screen is capacitive and supports two points of touch. Internet browsing is very quick, there is barely any waiting when opening web pages or running applications.
This tablet does run 3d games. With the normal 2.2 firmware it runs NOVA, asphalt, 3D pool, Need for Speed Shift, Angry birds (not 3d) all very quickly. There are countless other good 3d games that run.
The USB ports work fine, you can plug a usb stick and browse it easily.
Speaker is fine. This tablet can be upgraded to 2.3 software (which I did, version 0531, which makes it run quicker)
This tablet has a very nice weight and external build quality feel about it!
Plays movie files flawlessly!

Cons: Just a couple of problems, most of which are firmware related.
The first is a problem with the g-sensor (accelerometer). With a lot of g-sensor controlled games, everything turns to the left with no control unless you tip the tablet around 90 degrees. (its hard to play games holding your head sideways!) With games that do work with the g-sensor (Aphalt), it shakes and wobbles even when it is held still, but is still usable.
The second is the wifi. This tablet seems to have a weak wifi power when running android 2.2 (seems to be stronger with 2.3). I'm not sure if this was a problem with my particular router, but if I took my tablet out of range of my wifi, then walked back into range and tried to connect (which it should do automatically) it doesn't. It just sits there and says "scanning" then immediately after "disconnected". The only way to fix this was to reset my entire router. Not good.
However after upgrading to android 2.3 (version 0531) this problem has disappeared, and the wifi connectivity has increased. Perhaps it was just a bug with my particular system, because i have not read about it anywhere else.

Other: Excellent Tablet!!!! Good for games, internet browsing, flash playing and video watching! Some small firmware issues which will probably be ironed out with future updates.
If you want a cheap 7 inch tablet with an awesome processor for under $180, get this one!

Pros: First of all, its good device for play and work
- Cortex-A8 1GHz is fast enough combine with 512mb RAM wow.. well well it is good enough
- play 720p and 1080p mkv movies without lagging
- play all games in market smooth
- screen is responsive and support multi touch
- can read usb flash disk ( it's very usefull for me )

Cons: first it took over 1 month to deliver..
- Android Market is limited not like android market in
my other android device (HTC desire )
-update about firmware is not supported well enough.
-battery is not good enough for me
-wifi signal is weak
heavy for one hand handled
back and menu button is hard to reach

Other: if you want 7" android device with good performance and good price andropad A8 is good choice
