What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Pros: Nice gadget for console collectors like me because most of stepdown converters here in Spain are 125v instead of 110v and that produces a heatdown and more stress to power supplies.
I have measured in 220v->110v mode and mine has a constant 116v output without charge with an oscillation about 0.1v (I could not test inverse)
Cons: Only 80W
A plug converter would have a significant improve its value
Other: Good stepdown convertor for Euro users who wish to test little american/japanese electronics. Recommended
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Swings both ways - can convert from 220 to 110 and from 110 to 220. The socket on the back can accept both American/Japanese and European plugs (see picture in the description) The prongs on the input side are non-polarised , non-grounded parallel blades (like in USA, Canada, Japan). Work with all us/jp sockets.
Cons: Too easy to switch incorrectly. The voltage shown near the switch is the INPUT VOLTAGE. Watch out when connecting. The prongs are American/Japanese only, so an adapter will be needed to use this in Europe. (DX sells those too). Low power (only 80W). Good for one dvd player OR one small TV, most probably not for both at the same time.
Other: One less barrier in carrying small appliences overseas. Again DO WATCH THAT INPUT SWITCH or risk badly frying the appliance and the transformer.

Pros: It just works and does the job. No less no more. And I have been using it for years without any trouble. I have left it plugged in for long periods of time but had no trouble.
Cons: The socket for the flat plug is a bit narrower than the plug of the device I use it for but a bit of forcing was enough to get it in :-P
Other: If you have a device which you have bought from a country using a different voltage mains then you can use this :-)
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - it's bivolt: you can put it in a 110v to generate 220v or in a 220v to generate 110v; - it's small; - it's portable; - it has a compatible weight for the size; - it accepts round power plug or flat power plug; - the 80W maximum power is suitable for the most of the equipments.
Cons: - the bivolt feature is via a manual switch; it will be better if via automatic control.
Other: It's worth for the price, for what it do and fot the portability.
