Pros: Needed a tachometer to set/test different components on a motorcycle after the onboard tacho cable seized.
Bought this unit to see if it would get me out of trouble.
Worked straight out of the case (after adding a battery)and was so easy I did not even have to look at the instructions!
All you need to do is cut of a piece of the reflective tape,The bit I used was only 1cm square(it comes with heaps of tape)and stick it on the outside of the flywheel.
Get a comfortable distance (about 30cm for me)and hit the button(Test).
A laser beam about 1cm wide projects out the front and you just aim this at your reflective tape for a quick and what seems so far as a fairly accurate measure of revs per min (if the engine will start!!).
Cons: I have none.
Other: The amount of trouble-shooting I do on motors means this thing paid for itself before it even arrived.
I have other ways to measure revs with other instruments but my problem has been the bikes are either 6V or 12V and my instruments are all 12V.
Because of the nature of this item I dont have to worry about this anymore.

Pros: I comes with a soft case to keep the tachometer, the reflective tape and the battery (not included). It's very simple to use, just cut a piece of refletive tape, place it on the shaft, wheel or any other rotating part and test it with the test button positioning the tachometer about 30 cm away.
Cons: 9V battery, I could use a couple of AA batteries. Plastic housing is fragile. It won't resist if dropped on the floor.
Other: If you need an unexpensive tachometer you can buy this one, if you need it for professional applications, buy a better one.

Pros: its the first time that i by tachometer and it was very exciting experience for me. i could finally check the speed of my wireless drill speed and my provisional drill turning speed. i have setup the professional drill to 1000RPM and the meter show me 1007rpm which i am sure that its accurate. i have also measure my wireless drill ( makitta) that should have turn in 1500rpm and i got a read of 1020rpm max!! and i have two of them and they both gave me the same measure. so i guess that my drill is getting old...
Cons: i try to measure on a 4 cm wheel and it was not easy. The smallest wheel that I could make a read was 3.5cm smaller then that you need to use some creativity.
Other: Do the job quite nice. Fits the price. I can recommend it.

Pros: Accuracy of measurement of rotating shafts.
Ease of use at work.
The presence of adhesive tape in Included Parts.
The presence of the bag.
Availability of Battery Included
Cons: Obvious shortcomings, I have not yet discovered.
Other: I liked the device. Well read the testimony. A good display. Long running battery. An accurate measurement. My friend liked it too. He asked me to buy such a device for it.

Pros: Can measure low and high speeds
Very low speeds can be measured by applying more pieces of tape.
All needed items included, tape and battery
Good quality
Measures with laser
It can measure things spinning under transparent covers (it measured the rotation speed of my washer with the lid closed with the reflective tape placed at 40CM, also read the speed of a CD in my audio system trough the plastic cover).
Cons: None that i discovered so far
Other: Nice tachometer, buy it if you need it. It has nothing that will disappoint, it does what it says to do, a little bit more but no less.

Pros: Solid build, easy to use and read, comes with battery included and nice carrying pouch with lots of reflective stickers. Really impressive for that price. Similar ones in local shops are many times more expensive but are no better. Used to borrow one from work whenever I needed rpm measurement, this one is actually nicer to use with steadier read-out and faster measurement.
Cons: None so far, works as it should every time.
Other: Get one, it comes in handy for anyone is is into different machines or any rotating devices of all sorts. I used it e.g. for propeller selection on my outboard engine and tuning of a stationary internal combustion motor that lacks rpm meter. Excellent value for money and overall quality feeling to it. Will come in useful many more times in the future, I am sure.

Pros: Tachometer makes very accurate measurements on low and high speed. I have lathe machine tool with variable rotation speed and digital speed indication so I have compared the data: - on speed 25 rpm tachometer showed 25 rpm; - on speed 525 rpm tachometer showed 532 rpm. Also measured the speed of emery wheel. Nominal speed of it is 1400 rpm and tachometer showed 1380 rpm.
Cons: Have no cover for infrared diode for storage - be careful with your eyes when you take thermometer out of storage box.
Other: Accurate tachometer with very good price.

Pros: This unit outperforms my $500.00 USD strobotachometer. It runs on only one 9 volt battery unlike my old photo digital tachometer. The old one needed 6 AA batteries and ate them up. My old strobotachometer needed a $38.00 USD battery every once in a while. The laser in this is quite strong so it works even when you are pretty far from the shaft of the turning motor or fan blades. Battery usage seems minimal.
Cons: You may have to use the supplied reflective tape.
Other: If you want to measure the speed of a rotating shaft you want this tachometer. If you don't care, don't bother and move along as there is noting to see here. I bought two.

Pros: The tachometer is excellent. It is so simple to use. The display is clear and numbers are big, works perfect. Comes with a battery ready to use. Plenty of reflective tape inside, but you can also use simple sticky tape or anything that can shine a little.
Cons: No real cons. The button feels cheap to press, but since it works perfectly i dont really think its a con. When packed, the test button, with which you measure, can easily get pressed and it could deplete the battery.
Other: I would buy it again, and i recommend it to everyone!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Good build quality devices - Storage pouch included - Reflective tape labels on a rotating part
Cons: - Precision is not very high - Speed values change frequently
Other: I used this device to measure the speed of rotation of the rotor viscometer when writing a thesis. Accuracy was pretty low, but I had enough. For use in areas (such as engineering), where high precision is not possible. When measuring the digital tachometer to bring close enough to the rotor. Despite the shortcomings, I pleased with the purchase of a digital tachometer.
