What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Plugs in and works fine. Very quiet for a geared motor.
Cons: Turns very slowly. Eg: at 300 steps per second it took a few of seconds to do 360 degrees. Will update this review if I can later with more specific info. The maths would indicate 13 seconds per revolution eg: 360 deg / ((5.625 degrees / 64 reduction) * 300 steps per second
Other: Good value if it does what you want.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Can be driven from Arduino using the standard stepper motor library. - Has high torque - 2048 steps per revolution gives accurate control - LEDs showing the operation - Driver chip on board comes with the package for easy deployment
Cons: - Slow (can't have high torque and high accuracy with high speed) - Can get quite hot - Not centered (because of the internal 1/64 reduction) - Pins on controller board, so can't use normal breadboard male-male jumper wires to connect
Other: If you need a strong and accurate stepper motor and don't have a driver yet, this is a good starting point. But if you want more speed, then this might not be the product you are looking for.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Cheap, quality reasonable if you consider the price tag :-) It works with the Arduino and connecting is simple. The Arduino stepper motor library works well with the product. The driver board looks well and the LED's are helpful while testing your sketch.
Cons: The torque is very low and motor gets pretty warm after short usage. One of the most annoying things is the fact is only runs in one direction! so in that prospective the motor is not very useful. I have tried several sketches but no way to reverse the motor.
Other: Okay for a starter price is okay and value for money worth buying. But consider for what use you want this motor.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Sorry have to correct my statement about the reverse , this motor can run clock and counter clockwise. You need the correct code. Hard to find but found it here: http://www.utopiamechanicus.com/article/arduino-stepper-motor-setup-troubleshooting/ Driver board good quality and simple to use.
Cons: Motor torque low, motor gets pretty warm while using it.
Other: I have to change my review because the motor will operate in two directions. Point is that you need to know how to setup the code for this motor.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Great cheep stepper motor with controller. I powered it using a 9V battery.
Cons: No datasheet. But It's fairly straight forward.
Other: No real issues. May stall if there is no delay between activation's, I used 0.0002 s between activation's.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's a small engine but with great versatility and strength to the size it is, but the best thing about it is that it includes the driver stepper motor control and need for proper operation, which has on its board a detailed description pin right out for easy connection.
Cons: So far I have not found anything which could complain.
Other: If all goes (and I believe it will) I buy more engines.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Comparatively good price, fast shipping, rather god quality of motor and iring, good package in a plastick bag. Very good power of steper motor, good stepping skale. A good design of motor, ease to put it into projects.
Cons: a quality of soldering is a bit bad, like a child -made. It's better to put a small datasheet in a package.
Other: Just buy it for your projects. The motor is small but rather powerful.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This is a very suitable for DIY unipolar geared 5V 4-Phase 5-Wire stepper motor controlled by ULN2003 Driver. One of the most significant advantages of this stepper motor is its ability to be accurately controlled in an open loop system.
Cons: the quality of soldering of the driver is like a child-made.
Other: Can be controlled directly from Arduino.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - high torque - Great precision - Driver works perfectly with this stepper motor -Drivers available in standard Arduino library - Sample code available at http://arduino-info.wikispaces.com/SmallSteppers as described in one of the forum threads of DXmoocow -unipolar stepper motor, does not require H-bridge.
Cons: -Very low rotation because of high torque. Needs big gear(large radius) to be placed on shaft for projects that require large displacements (2*pi*r). - Confusing what kind of gear to purchase for beginner to be placed on shaft. -Requires female to male/female wires!(male wires in Arduino, female wires in ULN2003 driver).
Other: Great device. You will need extra stuff to make it work though. Don't forget to order male/female wires and some sort of gear for the shaft if you want to use it to drive something else.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: The relationship between price and quality is very high. The engine power is also good because it has built gearbox. Input signals perfectly supports 3.3V. Consumption is very low. The noise is also low.
Cons: The maximum speed achieved by microstepping to have been about 0.25pps, on top of that the engine vibrated.
Other: While I do not need more speed or strength, it will be the engines that I buy for the experiments.
