Pros: You will get very useable pulses of nice white light with every squeeze. It's easy enough for children to operate but serious enough to be really useful in an emergency situation, or even just for playing around with. Despite what the package says, this flashlight DOES have batteries. It has 3 small 1.5v coin cells near the head of the unit. They are not recharged by the dynamo, so you should consider them an auxiliary power source. Once they die, you can replace them (it's not the easiest thing to do though) but it's probably not worth doing. The flashlight will continue to work on dynamo power if you run the batteries out, or even if they are removed completely.

Cons: The head of the flashlight is not glued on (which I actually appreciated) so some kids might pop it off and break the very fine magnet wire connecting one side of the LEDs to the dynamo. Be very careful about this if you decide to open it up.

Other: For $3.57 you really can't go wrong with this little flashlight. It's not going to be your every-day flashlight but it's fun to play with and could be extremely useful in an emergency.

Pros: Cheap. Decent build quality but it would be nice if it worked.

Cons: It'll only light up if you keep on squezing the handle. Since there is no capacitor inside, the light stops as soon as you stop squezing. On batteries its bright but its strictly for emergency backup only.

Other: Its a nice toy, good to teach kids about mechanics and basic electronics. Only consider is as a backup to an emergency torch. (backup for a backup)

Pros: No batteries ever, very easy to use. Super bright light.

Cons: none

Other: You need one of these, this particular unit is bulletproof get 2.

Pros: Relatively cheap. Works as advertised. Optics is ok - the light forms a spot. Exterior build quality is all right. Wrist strap is a plus.

Cons: The flywheel is too small, it won't keep the dynamo running for even a second after a single squeeze.
The power on/off switch is pointless. It just adds confusion, especially since there are no user instructions of any kind.
One LED has died in the first day already.

Other: It is just a toy. Do not expect it to be useful in real life.

Other: - I acquired more 2 in store and also they do not recharge.It is not guilt of the Dx and yes of the manufacturer. Portuguese(BR).Comprei mais duas em lojas aqui no Brasil e também não recerregam. A culpa é do fabricante e não do DX.

Pros: Well, if you are desperate this thing is bright enough. And yeah, you don't need batteries. But you have to be pretty desperate.

Cons: I did buy this one because I was curious if it was the same one of my friends has. I guess it's not. I knew the batteries inside wouldn't actually recharge. That's not a problem; the ones inside the flashlight of my friend also didn't. The problem here I think is the body of the flashlight is smaller I guess, so you have to press like a maniac to get light out of the dynamo and even then it won't stay on for even half a second. THAT is a big no no.

Other: Don't buy this one, DX has better flashlights.

Pros: this is like the best emergence lamp ever not batterys no fass last long very very very long at one time i opend the light for 7 hours till the charge died then you just give a little squezze and vouala you have light again for god knows how long its perfact cheap i love this i now this product from before dx around the 6 years back
and i cant say it enough this is a A+ product

Cons: its pretty basic and cheap so the build is cheap too but than again this is soooooo cheap in the pocket so buy five if one breaks than you got an other one in the box
btw i had one in a 6 month trip and ive been using it all the time so thay last pretty good
