Pros: This works exactly as described, it comes withe verything u se in the pictures. i used this to put a new hard drive in a old pc i had to fix and it works good. All the cables eem to be good quality and the board itself has brand ame chips on it. It should last long enough.

    Cons: none so far

Other: buy a few in case one is falty , or if u fix a pc and the adapter breaks u can replace it.

  • Works, but...

    Pros: It worked for me.
    Very good to fixed use.
    Really cheap.

Cons: It worked, but just using it with HDDs, it doesn't worked with CD or DVD Reader - Writer units. I've tried to use it to convert IDE CD Drives to SATA interface, and computer takes a little more to boot (in BIOS detection), and finally doesn't detect CD drives.
Solder ticks are very weak, and i think could broke up.
It have no user's manual. Just says "SATA => IDE" and "IDE => SATA" on SATA female connectors, but you just dont know wich connector you should use (IDE => SATA means IDE Drive to SATA interface, or IDE interface for SATA Drive?).

Other: Is very cheap, and it works with HDDs because doesn't need drivers. I don't know how much speed decreases using it, but it works! And it helped me to solve my problem! Thanks DX!

Pros: I work as a computer tech and I've had several situations where I needed to convert a SATA drive to IDE or vice versa. This product that I stumbled upon makes it super simple and easy to convert. Just follow the directions on the PCB and off you go.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other: This is a great tool for any computer tech or home enthusiast to have in their arsenal. It will help greatly in the recovery of an old hard drive or connecting a new optical drive to an older system.

  • Very cheap adapter

Pros: Easy installation, just plug the sata, ide and power cable and you are done. I used it to plug a new sata dvdrw drive in an old pata motherboard. It didn't work at all, but was a deffective dvdrw-drive. I didn't try again, since I got a pata dvdrw drive.

Cons: Exceedingly low quality. Looks like it will break really easy. The connectors are a bit loose and looks like they will break at the first use.

Other: Look for a better built one. Don't try this one.

  • ide to new board

posted by nakupinternet on 10:34:26 G11T 23/11/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: I had brokem motherboard ane need to access data from harddisk. so I bought new motherboard, but it has only one IDE slot. and I have four IDE devices. so one cdrom I throw away. The ata 33 harddisk works good at full speed, but takes an eternity to find it by BIOS. after that it works great. The ata 100 hardisk is found immediatelly during post and I think, it is working at higher speed than through IDE slot.

Cons: I thought it was not working, because of bad description on the board. One sata is for one direction, second sata is for second direction. Nothing like two sata into one ide at the same time. So a while of reading manuals and looking at photos here cleared the problem. And there is a LED on the right side, I havent noticed that, maybe it is not lightning if it is not working.

    Other: nothing

  • It works!

Pros: 1. It works! MB Gigabyte GA-8PE800 without support SATA + HDD SATA.
    Everything is fine!
    2. Very good price in my area (Belarus), it is more expensive.
    3. Very easy to use, does not require high qualifications, anyone can. Telling drive in the BIOS of the motherboard.
    3. Pretty fast delivery. I was pleasantly surprised!

    Cons: I have not found.
.... a little bit not a perfect build quality.

Other: If you have an older MB with no support SATA interface, and have a desire to connect the new SATA HDD - is the perfect solution for you!
    I recommend to buy.

  • Good, but with problems.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: - Cheap - Doing its job right - Both-way SATA-IDE adapter

Cons: - Its only ATA/100-133 compatible (DVD/CD-ROM wont work) - It DOES NOT support S.M.A.R.T, if you try and fetch the SMART data from your device it will freeze for a minute before it transfer everything - Requires external power and cable is too short - Flimsy build quality, do not recommend for a crowded case

Other: Im happy with the device, although the price is not a real deal its doing its job and it works. The build quality is the main thing you should keep in mind when installing, its way too easy to go wrong if you don't keep attention to the main board.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: 1. Not expensive.
    2. Relatively good build quality.
    3. Easy to install (you must connect the IDE-cable, 7-pin SATA-cable and a 4-pin power cable (similar to the power cable FDD)).

Cons: Only one minus: BIOS does not see all the motherboards HDD, connected via a device

Other: Can be used for various purposes: SATA -> IDE or IDE -> SATA

Pros: Perfect to conect old DVD drives to the new motherboards without IDE slots, works fine and do the what says that he do.
The package is a plastic pack with a big round paper with specifications.
Come to me with little bit of dents but the component was not affected.
Come with two cables, energy and SATA.

Cons: The building quality is not the best but chinese hardware isn't the best place to claim quality.
The SATA cable is too short to use with IDE DVD drive.

Other: Nice hardware, works fine, very useful, make the diference with no IDE slots Motherboards.
    VEry good

Pros: the adapter (40-Pin IDE to SATA or SATA to 40-Pin IDE Bilateral Adapter Card) is working properly, he worked in the computer for about a month PC (SATA) -> HDD (IDE). device operates with an adapter IDE - miniIDE no problems.

Cons: 1. not convenient to connect (the feeling that the power connector is now broken off) 2. not well thought out design of the device 3. done poorly on the mind

Other: I can finally appreciate by 3 out of 5 inexpensive but functional
