  • iPhone Compatible - So far, so good!

Pros: I just got this and opened it up. I fully charged it through my computer first, as you should with any battery. The charge status LED went from red to green (indicating full charge) within 90 minutes. It includes an iPhone adapter and it's currently sitting next to me happily charging my iPhone 3GS.

Cons: The mini USB to phone adapter cable is very short (about 5 inches). The iPhone adapter head is a little bulky, so I had to take it out of it's case to get it to actually "click in" to my phone. It's not necessary if you're in a hurry however. I can still plug it in with the case on, it just doesn't click in and the connection gets lost if you bump it. Also, the cord that came with my iPhone does not work with this. You have to use the short cable that came this. I'm going to try getting a mini USB extension cord and see if that works, but I haven't done so yet.

Other: Not too much experience with it yet, but so far, so good. My main concern is that it wouldn't be iPhone compatible and it is. So I'm happy with that! I'm hoping for the best with the whole battery charging thing. Also, I haven't had a chance to test its solar performance yet. I have high hopes in those two aspects though, so unless I'm proven very wrong over the next 2 weeks or so, I think I'm going to be very happy with this purchase.

  • Works as good as a solar panel can work

Pros: Free power! it's kinda easy to use, and it does charge my iPod touch (as well as BB pearl) It has a big battery. on a full charge I was able to use it to keep my iPod charged for about 3 days without recharging the solar panel

Cons: It is really slow to charge with solar power. It says it takes 15 hours to charge with solar but by that it likely means direct sunlight. It will charge with moderate sunlight and even on over cast days, but don't expect it to charge much. I want to hook it up so that I can hang it from my window, but i haven't got around to figuring out how to go about doing that.

Other: I would not rely on this device to keep my iPod or Phone running, but it's really easy to just leave it near a window and let it charge for a week (It has been overcast all week so it took all week), then on the weekend charge my devices from it. cost wise i think your better just plugging your device into the wall. but if you're kinda green like me little things like this could make a difference over a few years. I hope this little guy lasts me :)

  • Great charger!

    Pros: Huge battery capacity
Very sensitive solar cells (charges indoors too)
Voltage settings are easy to change with switch
Good sturdy case and carry pouch
Very many connectors for different devices (minousb, microusb, iphone, nokia, etc)

Cons: Takes very long to charge, but this is easily remedied by leaving the charger near the window during the day
Doesn't quite tell you when it has a low charge, it will just stop charging the device out of nowhere, so have it at a full charge if you are going anywhere!
Sony connector doesn't work for my friend's phone

Other: Really good device, works as shown and worth the price. Highly recommended to anyone who travels often.

    Pros: - excellent capacity; using it with SKU 36086 it took more than 6 hours to bring the battery down; - excellent build quality and packaging, showing great care of the manufacturer in presenting a high finishing quality in this product; - handy pouch to keep everything together and safe, as it is made of a somewhat soft material; - several plugs available, many possibilities; - four output voltage levels: 4.8 , 5.8 , 8.4 and 9V, many more possibilities ;-) ; - there is a quite bright handy LED, enough to find your way around or some lost thing in dark places; - three ways of recharging: solar, USB and mains. - and it is beautiful, with elegance and discretion;

Cons: There is no way of knowing the charge/discharge rate and battery capacity left, and it takes a long time to recharge, even using USB or mains. Perhaps this saves the batteries from stress, though.

Other: Very good product at a reasonable price.

  • Nice package but has some cons

Pros: Does as it claims. Nice case and attachments

Cons: Unlike another duel solar pack I once bough from here this one lacks having dual standard usb output that run simultaneoysly on the other side. it might be thicker but my other brand is better designed but lacked a case with it.
the universal power charge which has a usb port on it is europe plug not asian or usa plug with swivel pins like some charges have
the power vilt selector is a press button not slider like my other pack.. its way to easy to bump and up the volt which can cook your gear powering from it.. bad design I think.. although it has leds to shows which voltage selected you have to be carful
has a small usb connector but comes with a cable to convet to the standard big usb socket.. no good if you want to connect a flexible laptop lamp to use it like a portable light source

Other: could do with improvements.. a slider for volt selection
use the other side of the pack for 2 usb big connectors to power multiple devices
a better universal usb charger when not using solar to trickle charge it

  • RRGP (Really Really Great Product)!

Pros: The protective case is real good, and everything is packed nicely inside of it.
There are a lot of connectors for everything I may need in it, and if you need another connector, you can just connect it to the usb cable supplied.
If you know that you are gonna need the battery charged but you won't be able to charge from the sun, you can actively charge it from the wall before you go out.
The solar panel is split in two and folds in half so it takes less space, AND protects the panels.
You can choose what voltage you want the output in!
There also a LED flashlight built in :-)
Overall build quality is GREAT! and this product is really well thought of!

    Cons: Didn't find any :-)

    Other: MUST buy!

Pros: Compact and nicely designed charger with huge 4200 mah battery. Feels solid. Can be charged using USB, A/C (adapter included!) and solar panels. Comes in a solid protective case. Lots of adapters included. Voltage is adjustable. LED's indicate the battery capacity.

Cons: Case little bulky. The foil on the solar panels is a little sloppy. Charging using solar panel can take very long (up to 20 hours in full sun) - but hey it works! I think it's a odd that up to five lights are burning while charging the battery with the solar panel. Without these lights burning the charging process should go a little faster... There was no adapter supplied for charging my Nintendo DS, but SKU 18461 solved this.

Other: Great battery charger with no big cons.

Pros: Excellent capacity. I'm using it with my Nokia N800 and this charger recharge it fully twice before battery down. Excellent packaging. A lot of connectors. Protecting case is very useful. A LED lamp - not needed here, i think, but nice =) When charging it flashes lamps of voltage to indicate of charge ratie. 3 way of charging A folding design keep colar panels from damage.

Cons: No disacharge rate or battary capacity indicator. A much time to charge (even by cable or USB)

Other: This procuct not cheap, but very useful. I'm not sorry about its purchase

  • Usefull but doesn't live up to expectations

Pros: The solar panels work as promised. In contrast to the cheaper models, this one is actually capable of charging in modest light conditions. Another good aspect is the build quility of the charger. The aluminium casing is sturdy and doesn't warp even under stress. The circuitry inside does a good job. The unit doesn't heat up even under heavy usage. This could mean 2 things. 1) The unit is very power efficient and thus, doesn't waste a lot of energy. Or 2) Its only capable of delivering small currents. Luckely it seems to be number 1. It can fully charger my phone in a reasonable amount of time. The carrying case provided is very usefull and well made. Enough room for cabels and offcourse the charger. Stitching seems to hold firm and the elastic bands won't brake easily. For anyone who is worried to fry his/her phone with the 8,4 or 9V setting I've got good news. Once your phone is connected, the unit can't change the voltage!. Very smart design indeed. You first have to disconnect your device before you can change the voltage. It probably detects a current flowing through the output and disables the voltage adjust function. Whenever you turn on the charge function, it starts at a default of 4,8V so you have to do some silly things in order to fry something. The build-in LED for use as a torch is decent but its to weak for serious uses. For example it is not capable of lighting a small room

Cons: Sadly there are a number of cons. First off the supplied accessories: - One cabel wasn't working - mini and micro usb adapters were making a short circuit :( - Wall charger had lose parts inside making a ratteling noise. A cable not working is annoying but not a problem. Making a short circuit IS a problem. For a product in this price range a decent connector or adapter should be included. I'm not sure if the short circuit caused a decrease in battery capacity but it sure does prove there is no quality control for this product. A wall charger with lose parts inside is a no go. When you short circuit your mains some nasty things can happen. Just for this I should have returned it. Be sure not to leave that adapter plugged in when you go to sleep, that thing isn't safe. Cons about the charger itself: - Mini usb out - Battery capacity not as claimed The unit has enough space available on the other side to house a normal sized female USB connector. So the choice of using a mini USB connector is a bit strange in my opinion. Luckely deal extreme sells a lot USB connectors and adapters for a low price, so be sure to order some with this unit. I've tried so many things to get a decent amount of charges out of the unit, but it seems that the internal battery is only +- 2500mAh. Atleast its far from 4200mAh. I've opened the unit to see if there were any markings but sadly, nothing, it is a no name, no brand battery. This does fit the lack of quality control.

Other: The charger does not live up to expectations. It can charge in the sun but the battery does not have the capacity as can be expected from the description. The included accessories were useless and dangerous in case of the wall adapter. I have rated build quality bad because of the accessories and the under sized internal battery.

Pros: Great charger that i take everywhere with me. Had it nearly a year now and it charged my old iphone 3G and also charges my iphone 4. on weekend camping trips it easily keeps me topped off and in good sun it will keep the internal battery topped up. comes with tons of leads although ive only used iphone connector. I always keep it topped up from usb power. Case is really sturdy

Cons: British weather means you will not really charge it from solar quickly unless its sunny but im not bothered about that.
would like a proper usb out rather than mini

Other: if you want something to keep your power hungry iphone topped up on your travels then this fits the bill. the large battery capacity is excellent
