Pros: Does as advertised, drives a cree at 990 at the led. Has a memory so the last used mode is retained. Multi-mode is very nice....has a useable low power setting.

Cons: Wires were not soldered to the board, had to look at the pictures on the web to know when to put them.

Other: Great driver at a very good price.

  • Good faetures, but narrow V-in range

posted by gearbox on 21:53:25 G11T 01/11/2007 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Small, thin, compact, miniscule, tiny, uh...un-big? Good, useable settings without a lot of "fluff." Didn't explode in a fiery blast upon incorrect polarity. So that's nice.

Cons: Too narrow a range of voltage input!!!

Other: If you have a specific project in mind and this fits the V_in and features, it's a great deal and a great product.

If this would accept a wider range of V_in and if DX could find a supplier to add an inductor coil that didn't compromise 1/4" of room it would be even better.

  • Good Driver

    posted by johnny13oi on 19:40:44 G11T 02/11/2007 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very good driver with a nice low option. Multimodes is definitely useful.

Cons: A very narrow voltage range, mainly good for a single Li-ion only or 3 X NiMH

Other: Get this if you need a multimode cheap driver that will drive an led using a single li-ion or 3 X NiMH.

  • Great device, versatile add a 17670, CR1213A,

posted by callmeshyguy on 18:42:04 G11T 03/11/2007 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: A needful device for DIY modders. I like the 5 mode high, med, low, strobe and love the S-O-S function. Good last memory effect. A perfect fit into the assembly of the reflector. Add a spring and emitter your set. 3.7-4.5 so watch the voltage

Cons: Would of liked a small instruction sheet of correct placement of solder. Or well placed polarity next to sauter points. Only 3.7 not enough vesatile for 7.2 rechargeable but oh well good enough for my 17670.

Other: A needed Circuit board great for a low price.

  • Great driver for a Q5

posted by wolfsangel on 03:34:45 G5T 25/05/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Really accurate and nice construction. Wires not soldered (for me it's pro). Wires is eyasy to sold places. Works great. Optimal count of modes. Memory works perfectly. Seems it's not linear driver, but PWM (look osciloscope). Easy to fit in to standart reflectors.

Cons: A little bit small input voltage range.

Other: Great circuit board for Cree q5 and others.

  • Neat little bugger

posted by Chopstix on 12:21:08 G11T 29/11/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: -Great build quality
    -Operates smoothly
    -puts 1.02A like advertised
    -Tiny
    -polarity protection
    -5 modes
    -mode memory

Cons: This has nothing to do with the board but the included wires were unpredictable and keeps breaking off (electrically)

Other: Buy it when it's available and just keep it in your hobby drawer even if you don't need it. Because when you do, it isn't worth the wait.
