58mm Digital Camera Lens Adapter Tube for Canon S5

Pros: My adapter arrived today. I have a lensmate and original canon adaptor so I can compare the quality of each.
This is solid - all metal construction. The filter thread is a little rough, but works fine with my filters.
Compared with the Canon (a plastic adapter), it is 1/10 of the price and fulfills the same function.
The Lensmate feels a little more solid on the camera, but again, is a lot more expensive.

Cons: The one I received was marked for Canon S5 IS. No problem as it is the same dimensions as the S3 IS.
The adapter is a little loose (no more so than the genuine Canon model). I have heard teflon tape helps with this - I will investigate.

Other: Buy one, now. At this price, buy several - they're cheap and useful.

Pros: Aluminum construction feels solid.
Matte black color looks good.
Allows you to protect your cameras zoom lens and really opens up another level of photography for users of the s3 and s5 cameras.

Cons: Fits a bit loose so there is some wobble, Teflon tape on the camera fitting helps this and is easily removable with no residue because it has no adhesives.

Other: This will save your camera from bumps and even light drops, since the s3 and s5 both have extending lenses on startup these mechanisms can be damaged, lenses scratched, and dust collected on, with this tube you can protect your camera and protect your lenses with filters, and also add photographic effects to your photos like IR or long exposures with ND filters, or bluer skies with a Polarizer.
Get this for your camera youll be happy you did, also you can put a lens hood on this to help with lens flare!

Pros: This is perfect for Canon S3 (and probably also for S2 and S5). The bayonet fit for the camera is snug and does not wobble. Threads at the end are also very good. Professional black matte finish (darker than the S3 camera itself). Very solid construction. Very affordable.

Cons: The carboard box it was shipped in was slightly damaged from transport.

Other: Perfect if you got one of the compatible cameras and want to use extra 58mm lenses or filters. Very affordable compared to other alternatives and perhaps even better in quality.

Pros: This adapter tube fits perfectly on my Canon S2IS camera.
It feels very rugged and the 58mm thread is also good.
It looks very professional and is metal made.
That is better than the plastic of the original Canon adapter.

Cons: No cons, no wobble, no teflon tape, perfect fit. The cardboard box it came in was a little damaged but the adapter was fine.

Other: At $5,11 a great adapter, very affordable and useful. You need things like this if you take your hobby seriously.

Pros: - Size is just right for my Canon Powershot S3 IS - Cheaper than Canon's adapter tube (52-58mm) - Locks firmly - I don't need to be worried accidentally turning on my camera with this adapter tube on, protects your lens well!

Cons: None that I can see of... but now I need to get a new bag for my camera since my old one fits perfectly without the tube.

Other: Get it. I'm lucky that Canon's adapter tube isn't available nearby my place, this item is far cheaper and it does the same purpose.

Pros: This product simply does what it should do! Material quality is good, anodized aluminum, nice fitting, nice filter thread, looks perfectly fine to me.

Cons: none that I can think of. I never used the canon original in the S5 IS, but had the canon for the 52mm threads, and the canon one was not better in any way, not even packaging.

Other: get one and be happy, and don´t buy only the uv for protection, get some polarizer and ND and start building interest in filters for your nice canon camera.

Pros: Very nice product for the price! It is machined or cast aluminum and painted or powder coated semi-gloss black. It fits my Canon S3 perfectly with a tight fit and looks great with the 58 mm "Canon" lens cap (SKU 20815) I also purchased from deal extreme.

Cons: Hardly a "Con" but the black color is not an exact match to my camera.

Other: Great product. If you intend to add wide-angle, telephoto or macro lenses or filters like Polarizer, UV, Neutral Density, Close Up, Split Field etc. to your Canon S3/S5, you can't beat this price.

Pros: Great product for this price - 1/4 of price for original product here in the Czech republic. It is metalic, well build and semi-gloss, quite easy to put it on my Canon S5, it could be good for protecting body of zoom lens.

Cons: Forget to use it as a lens hood too - end of adapter overlaps lens just for several millimetres - it is enough for zooming of lens if you are using filter, but it is not enough to procet lens from sunlight.

Other: nothing

Pros: It is very cheap, at $5.11 WOW!, it is made of metal, the color matched the color of my camera fitting is good with S3/S5 and 58mm filters, extra protection for the zoom lens body. S3 and S5 would look like a SLR.

Cons: I have no issue with this item, no wobble, product is sturdy. im using it for 3weeks now here in the Philippines.

Other: I have no remorse in getting this item. It's a great product (Cheap and craftmanship is really good) so get it, use it and enjoy photography with your Canon S3/S5.

Pros: The Pros of this item is that it is of no significant difference from the original one i enquired at the Canon Store only that the original one costs nearly a 100 times more expensive.
The material used to manufactured this tube is desirable as well. It is like anodized aluminium and best of all it's light and durable.

Cons: Couldn't find any.

Other: Definitely a must buy simply because i dare to say it is of no difference from the original one i saw in Canon.
It's about nearly a hundred times cheaper here in Malaysia if i were to get it from the Canon store.
No worries about the material because it is almost as good as the original one.
Best of all, it even has the word "for Canon" printed on the tube.
