    Pros: Relatively cheap
Works well on car accu as power source

    Cons: Does not have memory

Other: I would like to see this 12V driver with 1 mode and driven @ 4A or 3 mode with memory driven @ 4A MAX.

  • It does what its made for: driving XM-L @ 100%

Pros: - good building quality - only three modes - doesnt remember last mode

Cons: - fast strobe mode (do not know if i will use it sometimes...)

Other: Since there is no other driver for XM-L @ 100% available, this is a really good one for driving these efficient LEDs with lots of lumens...

  • Great Light!

    Pros: -Obviously the brightness.
    -Compact size.
    -Easy to use.
    -Did I say BRIGHT!

Cons: -Solder points can be difficult to solder to.
-Other than that, I can't think of any downfalls to them.

Other: These are great little LED's that can brighten up anything. If you have something to shed light on, get some and get working.

  • Great unit!

Pros: Effective, efficient and drives XMLAWT (sku 51989) quite well with two 18650 (sku 28677) LiIon batteries putting out ~8 v. Current draw with this rig is measured at 1.9A at full power and it is BRIGHT.

Cons: There is a three mode cycle built into this that can't be avoided. I understand the bright/dim but the flashing mode with a high-powered emitter is a seizure grenade - really annoying. I've had to build a power and a cycle pushbutton NC switch into my system to skip this quickly.

Other: Not bad for something that can melt asphalt at 100 meters!!

  • Works well at 1.5amps to drive cree XPG

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: +The top board can be removed and a new board with the strobe modes disabled fitted.
+It's possible to run this off 4xAA as the driver itself works under the 6volts.

Cons: The wires to connect the LED with are very light weight. A bit of patience and the wires can be replaced, but check for shorts first.
Driver runs very warm at 3A.

Other: Good driver, just wish it came with better wires to solder to the LED. Does not like to run in a hot ambient place. Room temp it works fine. I removed the strobe and also changed it to a H,M,L, 1.5a driver. Using it to power a cree 4x XP-G light and I like the fact it runs cool when setup like this.

  • Very good driver board. Perfect for XML T6 LED

posted by nztdm on 20:25:12 G8T 06/08/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very hard to find driver that outputs full power to XML T6 LED. Very compact except for the inductor which can be put on wires and relocated. Does not get very hot which suggests it is efficient. 3-modes could be useful somewhere...

Cons: The inductor sticks out far making it difficult to mount in smaller flashlights. The circuit could be easily redesigned to use a much smaller inductor. Cannot disable other modes, you are forced to use it in 3-mode operation.

Other: I highly reccommend this driver board as you will find it difficult to find another board that will output 3A. It is genuine 3A when used with 2 x 3.7V LiIon batteries, I tested with multimeter.

Pros: Works fine. It has three modes of low and high gate. I'm working on two Li-ion batteries. Now stands in the lantern http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdwAXnqTyJs

Cons: Minuses not found. All is very well assembled.

Other: Sorry for the translation in Google. Good thing, I recommend to buy.

  • It's changed

posted by nevik on 00:24:54 G8T 10/08/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It works as expected and was delivered in 14 days after ordering which is slightly quicker than promised. I have bought one of these before and the specs test much the same as the earlier unit. The steady low level puts 500mA through the LED and the steady high level puts 2350mA through the LED. The flashing cycle averages around 1Amp. The output current can be changed as required by changing/stacking the current sense resistors in the middle of the board. I adjusted mine up to 2950mA in line with the manufacturers specs. The rating of the components is very conservative and should easily handle this current. To move through the different modes you flick the power supply Off then back On for a short instant. However the big difference with this unit is that there is no separate mode control board! More below about this.

Cons: The original separate mode control board made it easy to remove the mode control board and modify the functions of the unit. I added a PWM dimmer that provided unlimited adjustment from Off to Max brightness and had bought this unit as spare parts for my original unit. As this unit is not exactly the same as my original purchase I'll have to do more research in how to adapt the new unit if needed.

Other: Still a good unit but requires more investigation now has to how it can be adapted for other modes of operation.
