6mm 5mW Red Laser Module (3.5~4.5V)

Pros: + The price is the main pro. 1,68 usd is about 10 Swedish crowns
+ Bulk orders on these are very beneficial, ordering 10+ units like I did and the price goes down to around a dollar! That is like 7kr.

Cons: - The specs were wrong, says 3,5-4,5V but I finally found out the hard way they run on a bit over 2V while giving them 4 volts burns them out permanently. I toasted ten of them.

Other: Very good price, you can't beat it! Good for DIY projects, not superb quality but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

Pros: Cheap.
Easy to solder longer wires to.
Very compact.
Brass body.
Fixed focus.
Current operated device.

Cons: Not a sealed unit so dust can get in.
Wires a little short.
Easy to break wires of due to metal fatigue
very flimsy wires.
no built in regulator so you need to limit the current with an external resistor.

Other: I tested two of these to destruction so i hope the above helps. get it wrong and the laser is history in less than a second.

Pros: Low price
Compact body made of brass
Easy to mount and Utilize in your projects
Low Power consumption

Cons: none at all

Pros: For approx. 5 bucks, you get a completely functional red laser module with lens, driver circuit, wired and ready to run. What more can you ask?

Cons: If DX sells higher power versions of these, like 100 mW, 200 mW or even 300 mW versions of these; wouldn't it be great!!!!

Pros: Got this just to see how good a 1.5$ laser module can be.
And I have to say, it is very impressive.
It's bright enough to be seen easily in daylight, the dot is pretty small and smooth, and it stays really cool, no heating up at all.

Cons: The laser was just a tiny bit off inside, so you have to check it and rotate if you need it to go straight.

Other: Don' expect it to be perfect, it still is just a 1.5$ laser module.
But it is really, really good for such a cheap thing :)

Pros: I rated the *product* 5 stars because it is an excellent value for the price, but please do find Proff's review and heed his advice on resistor selection! You WILL burn this laser up if you don't limit the current. If you don't know what "limit the current" means then buy a different laser, this one is not for you.

Cons: Deal Extreme could have done a much better job of describing the device. You NEED TO KNOW this:
1) This item is a laser diode and collimating lens ONLY.
2) It does not have a voltage regulator
3) It does not have a current limiting resistor.
4) Only buy this device if you've worked with, and understand how to power, a plain old current driven LED.

Other: Buy it if you know how to power an LED, otherwise you'll wait 5 to 10 days to receive a cool little product that you will immediately burn up. Buy 2 like I did so you can learn the lesson the hard way by burning one up, but still have at least one working unit when you come back to the reviews to figure out what you did wrong.

Cons: The wires look like they will break away fron the module.. but that can be fixed with a little solder

Pros: Very very very cheap. solid red dot.
The cheapest laser I could get were about $4.50 and were crap compaired to these.
Wires are soldered on. runs on 3vDC. very simple. no extra driver needed

Cons: beam does expand over relative short distances, but if you need to do the... buy something nicer.
Might be a little tough to solder new wires on. Very small board

Other: I'm going to maybe buy about $50 worth just for a neat display.

Pros: its very cheap and small., as some people here said, i just bought to see how good can this be...and i can tell you its very good!

Cons: the dot is not focusable, but its actually not a con..its so so
high voltage, dont know why this high for just a little device

Other: if you dont know how to use it, dont buy. its very difficult to make it work if you dont know the inner workings...i had to learn more things about circuits before I get used to it.

Pros: This module is pretty small, and can be used for many goods.
I didn't try this module but I belive this is worth for this money.
It has arrived very fast..21 days to Bosnia.

Cons: I had no chance to try this module, It was DOA.
It's not because od overvlotage, I gave 1.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5V and I didn't see any laser light from module.
I'll try to contact DealExtreme support team to help me.

Other: I think it's not worth to send this module back to DealExtreme, it's really cheap :D
