Pros: This is an easy way to get a big, bright multiple seven-segment display and switches for your Arduino projects. I could attach this to debug a robot's movement program by displaying values while it's running, or set up some parameters with the switches, then detach it when the robot is working properly. All the lights and switches worked fine and it looks well soldered and assembled.
Cons: Not a big deal but it comes with standoffs that could be used to mount it onto a baseboard or robot, except that the bolts supplied are a little too long so there's no thread left in the standoff to screw into. The bolts in the photo version are shorter.
Other: This is a great addition to my robot building toolbox and I would recommend it to anyone.

Pros: Board is quality builded. All components are soldered tight and PCB is very strong.
Package comes with mounting screws.
TM1638 chip requires only 3 pins from micro-controller to be driven.
Cons: Cable count be a little bit longer.
Buttons are noisy.
8-level brightness adjustment works, but steps of brightness are not proportional equal.
Other: Great board for experiments and final DIY project.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This is a fantastically inexpensive method of getting input or output from an Arduino board. While other LCD and matrix displays have more flexible display output they usually require a larger number of connections. The ability to daisy chain additional units is a great bonus and it is commendable that they include the link cable with every unit. Build quality was good on the 3 units I purchased. There is a Arduino library with examples available to assist in getting these up and running. Board comes with brass spacer supports to sit on.
Cons: I purchased 2 units and then ordered another unit. The third unit I received was from a different manufacturer with slightly different size. The brass spacers are not long enough to use for mounting in a box or back panel.
Other: Works as advertised. Very inexpensive. Supported by Arduino Library. Good build quality.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very useful if you wan't to build something with an Arduino. Simple to use and probably has button debounce.
Cons: Except that the buttons aren't exactly aligned under the LED's there are none. But it's not a big deal.
Other: A really must have for Arduino beginners. In stead of all kind of PCB's with buttons or LED's which uses too many pins this one just uses 3 pins + 1 pin for each extra module.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: You just can't beat this module for the price!
-8 digits of LED display, with WORKING decimal points
-8 GREEN/RED LEDs that are individually controllable.
-Easy to use library written for Arduino.
-8 Tactile buttons with good feeling/clicking sound
-Only uses 3 pins!
Cons: Buttons need to be scripted to debounce. There is no build in debounce in this unit.
One of my LEDs is also internally slanted. The light output from it is not straight on like it should be. Not noticeable unless you are projecting the light output on something.
Other: Great unit. Time will tell if it holds up to long-term use. I plan to have one module on 24/7 and i'll report back if there are issues.
I've ordered 2-3 more of these units, and a green one as well.

Pros: Its just a great little module for arduino or other atmel products, hade som issues to get it to work with my pic, but it works fine now, for the price you get alot of tech. easy to get to work, i recomend everyone that plays with arduino to have atleast 2 of them, really nifty that it has output , so you can daisy chain alot of them. Build quality is top notch, looks like a legit arduino board. And they did include screws and distances for the pcb board.
Cons: Nothing really. only thing i can come up with is. that it dident include any schematics or pin layout schematics. but it took me 10 minutes to figure it out anyway.
Other: get it now

Pros: This is en excellent product. Provides great deal of technology with very low price. It can be connected to arduino applications very very easily. I plan to use it in a non arduino application and the serial interface it uses looks very straight forward and easy to use.
Cons: One of the two boards I received had a defective LED that turned on red but no green. Luckily I had in my parts such dual leds and replaced it easily. Also I would help it the buttons where aligned to the leds.
Other: A nice, easy to connect and use product, I stacked two of them together for a racing car dashboard application and looks great!!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Cheap, not worth building a display yourself. Can extend it with key pads by using the solder pads on the back up to two 12 key phone like pads could be used.
Cons: The headers need to be right angle types so the board can be flush mounted also the buttons need to be longer or extensions made available so they come to the same height or more as the displays for panel mounting.
Other: Another great product from dx.com that costs less than the parts
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Great build, easy to setup and come exactly as advertised. It is increbly cheap compared to the stuff that is packed into this products
Cons: The only con that I can think of is the button debounce needs to be done in code and it does not come with documentation of any kind. But that is easily solved by reading the excellent writeup on the TM1638 library available online. Just google the library name and the rest is easy.
Other: Great product! Thanks DX!

Pros: * Nice clear display even at low brightness. * Display and buttons on one board and controller. * easy to control * daisy chaining of multiple boards! * TM1638 chip is easy to control
Cons: * at full brightness there is a significant voltage drop over the cable. * bit hard to find the datasheet. Google is your friend and a good translated datasheet is available. * no schematics so figuring out what segment and button maps to where is a bit of a hassle but doable with some effort. * high IDC connector headers prevent easy integration with a frontpanel. * Low buttons make it hard to put it in a frontpanel.
Other: Cheap, clear, easy to control. They can be used in many projects. So get a few, for this price its hard to make it as cheap as this.
