  • Very Cool Docking Station

Pros: A small unit Appears to be well built Very easy to use. IDE and Sata Drives connect perfectly USB Hub works flawlessly Quiet No rattles when i shake it There is a little slide underneath the product that allows you to adjust the power plug placement for IDE drives....very cool

Cons: USB cable is only 1 Metre

Other: Great addition to the IT toolkit. I used to have a HDD caddy in IDE only. It was cumbersome to unscrew the case, connect drive, screw together and it rattled. This devices does IDE, SATA, USB and a number of flash cards, Memory Cards, USB drives. It was more than i was hoping to pay however it really works as it says and looks pretty cool. I'd reccomend this device, It is quiet and i have had no problems with it. It just works

Pros: - number of interface types - design - ease of use

Cons: - could be cheaper :-) - US powercord

Other: As a family pc builder this a great tool to get harddrives online again after a pc upgrade or a crash. I like the number of interfaces that are on it.

  • nice device but note that...

Pros: It is a nice collections of input media such as various kind of memory card. many cameras have different kind of cables/connectors so this is a good way to quickly manage all without looking around for the right cable. I've also many old HD and now i can use them like external memory devices.

Cons: It is NOT clear the use of the esata back port! It can used ONLY for esata devices (too easy!) so the speed limit remains the USB connection. There isnt a real manual, it it not clear that you can adjust the PATA power connector position. To insert an HD could be quite a mess and it is possible to break the connector's pins! Cards connectors seams a little safer. The same collection of usb devices probably cost less.

Other: Can be useful if you manage many different HD and cards but be careful when you plug in the HD!

    Pros: Compact
    Works with IDE and SATA
    Features a eSata port!
    Memory card reader!
Silent, allowed me to backup my old IDEs on my macbook pro
    Good build quality
    High speed transfer

Cons: Power supply looks a bit cheap, I was a bit scared from it at the beginning, but it's came along nice me and him ;)
When you add a second drive, the other one stops
The connectors inside could be a bit tougher. The IDE one is a bit damaged already, but it still works perfectly fine

    Other: Need a HDD dock?
    This one is for you!

  • Useful, does what it says on the box

Pros: Reasonable build, intuitive to operate. It just works.
IDE drive power connector is mounted on a slider which lats you line up the connector to match the positioning on different drives.

Cons: American plug (But nothing that five minutes with a screwdriver, a pair of side cutters and a rewireable plug wouldn't cure ;-) )
power connector is based on a PS/2 connector and I've always thought they are a bit flimsy for anything other than being tucked away behind a PC, never to be disturbed.
IDE drive power connector is mounted on a slider, but this is very stiff to move.
Drives with slide guides added - and probably anything in a caddy - will need to have the extraneous hardware removed before they'll fit in this.

    Other: Simple, useful and handy.

Cons: It doesn't work with SDHC cards! American plug Don't have a manual

Other: Hope, manufacturer will take this omission into consideration...

Pros: It works really good and fast. Drivers were included in package, but i didn't need them, because computer recognized device immediately. Its work with my all 3.5" SATA and 3.5" IDE hard disks. I tested with the TF / Micro SD, SD and work well.

Cons: the included USB cable is too short and had to buy a longer.

Other: Very functional, fast and usefully. Not yet tried the software included on the CD for backup.

  • Nice docking station

posted by mivamoto on 11:45:44 G7T 27/07/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Good price; Nice design; Very fast using eSATA (>3x USB); Easy to use, after setting; Quiet, at least using only one HDD not heard any unusual noise.

Cons: The manual is not good, concerns only the backup software; The AC adapter is too big, is the same size as a notebook AC adapter, that makes it take up more space than necessary. eSATA cable not included.

Other: To use the eSATA interface on the mobo BIOS must be configured for AHCI to SATA ports; It is a great option to use external HDD at speeds similar to an internal.

Pros: Easy, good price, good built. You get what you pay for.

Cons: Wrong powerplug. I took it for granted that DX sent the right plug to the right area, as almost all other do, they include all general plugs. But nooooo... Had to get out and bye one powercord myself. Works fine now.
