What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. Pros: Cheap and ready soldered laser.
Cons: Laser is not so bright. Can not be seen good after like 4 meters. The spot seems a bit scraggy.
Other: I don't know yet for what I will use my laser, but I think every (mad) scientist should have at least one laser.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This laser LED looks similar to SKU 133778, rated to be 5 mW. To operate with a 5V power supply, a series resistor is required. I used a series resistor of 1.2kOhhm, resulting in 2V over the laser and a current of 2.5mA, resulting in 5 mW power dissipation. Connect grounding to the pin marked with a "-". Connect the 1.2KOhm resistor to the pin marked with a "S". Connect other side of the 1.2kOhm resistor to the +5V power supply.
Cons: Had to bend wires between circuit board and laser module to eliminate the short circuit.
Other: When using proper series resistor works fine. Needs focusing of the lens.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very cheep. Easy to connect. 5v supply easy to integrate in a circuit. Good pointer dot. Does not get hot. Does its job xD. Very good for microprocessor interfacing. Low power.
Cons: Laser pointer not aligned properly with pcb and the dot is not a straight line. Pcb contact and wiring are all bare, can be easily short circuited.
Other: If you need a cheep laser device this is way better than building the whole circuit for a laser diode, which in 99.9% of the cases would result in a higher price, more complicated design, more components and more time... more money... so BUY IT
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's cheap, easy to connect and use, you don't need any resistant or so, it don't get hot.
Cons: I don't find one so far. Others said it can be easyli short circuited, but I don't have that problem.
Other: I have used it for several projects, and it was working fine. Later, if I need more lasers, I will definietly order from this one.
