APC220 Wireless RF Modules w/ Antennas / USB Converter for Arduino

Pros: The APC220 is compatiple with all Arduino boards, and it's very easy to use. Basically you just need to power up the mudule and connect the TX and RX to the Arduino board. I baught the robot package from DX and also take this APC220 module to create a remote control using the PS3 joystick where that's works fine ! Very good Product and comes very well packaged.

Cons: No cons at all.

Other: With this module you can send RS232 commands to: APC220 -> PC or APC220 -> APC220 (I meand Arduino to PC and Arduino to Arduino)

Pros: Small and easy to use. The default is RS232 communication. You can change the frequency of use and also use a passkey. The antenna 2dBi manages a range of 1000 meters, according to the specification. Efetuei tests and appears to be exactly the same. The set comes with a USB adapter to connect the pc and use promptly.

Cons: I did not find negative points.

Other: Arduino, microcontrollers, PCs.

Pros: This module is very promising. Its really long range makes it very useful for many applications and with the SMA connector, you can use a better antenna or even use a coaxial extension cable to put the antenna in a more accessible place if your module will be housed in a box for example. The transfer speed is good.

Cons: price could be lower. stock antenna is a bit weak-> higher gain would be preferable. I don't think it can be connected as a multipoint to multipoint network.

Other: I really recommend this module over all the other modules around on DX if you need a simple wireless TX/TX link. Price is a bit high but it saves you the hurdle to interface a wireless transciever via SPI.

Pros: Good modules and easy to use too. It comes with usb adapter for test/comissioning. It's possible to create a point-to-point network with your PC/laptop or between two microcontrollers. Good package.

Cons: No cons at all. Just identify communication pins and power the board. You are ready to go.

Other: Great for a simple DIY microcontroller communication or home applications.

Pros: Includes everything you need: antennae, usb convertor for PC connection. Got it working in under 15 minutes. Which is faster than similar systems I have used (XbeeS2 and NRF chips) Nice Simple Uart Connection. No strange protocol required. Drivers found at: http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx Great that it can work from 5.5-3.3V, makes it flexible for a number of systems. Pretty low powered.

Cons: None.

Other: Probably the easiest way to make your project or robot wireless.

Pros: All parts included, 2 modules, usb adaptor and usb wire. To RF link PC --> Arduino, or Arduino --> Arduino, or Our development to any another device. Easy to use. Configuration Software in web (RF magic for APC22x V1.2A). To test APC device I use arduino Mega and Robot Car Kit. I need to test the max distance with included antenna and using external antennas. The Next step I need to test comunication between three or more modules.

Cons: RF communication software magic is unstable at times. The Arduino Sensor Shield v5.0 is not 100% compatible with APC. The Arduino UNO is not compatible 100% with APC. I need to connect externally pins SET and EN.

Other: APC220 RF link

Pros: Easy to use. Plugin into USB, install drivers and work! Tested on Windows7. Good construction quality. PCB is soldered fine. RF transmitting power is real.

Cons: Antenna included could be stronger. This can increase the range of work. There might be a strange realization of all signals of the COM port. I.e. for example might not be able to use this device as a wireless substitute data cable.

Other: Good price. On Ebay, with shipping may be much more expensive. Very happy with purchase. Solved my problem with minimal cost.

Pros: Good quality, has been shipped within 3 weeks. Can be used for it's purpose. Easy to connect and use. All info about how to use the dev. can be found on the internet.

Cons: Can be cheaper. Didn't hold the claimed distance of 1000m if one of the transmitters is in a building and the other on is outside. Starts loosing connection at around 100m. Didn't check in the open area, though, with direct view.

Other: Would suggest it to somebody else mentioning the cons it has. Over all It does what i want it to be used for.

Pros: Long range, adjustable frequency, encrypted link.

Cons: Lack of documentation. I was able to edit the settings with PC via the included USB - TTL converter, but unable to recieve any data. Antennas could be better. Software also isn't perfect, it always gives you an error in Chinese, but it works.

Other: It is a good set, a bit expensive, but worth the money. I plan on purchasing another set.

Cons: > Had a few issues setting up at first, but all good.

Other: If you think you'll need it, buy it!
