Pros: This piece is very cheap compared with others and they have the same behavoir as the original ones. (Even it can be cheaper) It is very good made, with no errors and well solded, it has defects that could affect the entire project. So you will be fine for displaying your thins in four alphanumerics. The mini breadboard is an excellent piece that every engineer should have since it is tiny, with good color and no errors. This is very useful when you do not want to lose time solding for make this displays. It is ready to use with your microcontrollers.
Cons: Material is good but not enough. It could be improved by using better BCD displays. It has no manual in how to use it so it is kinda confusing if you are a beginner in this field. Price can be cheaper at least 1 dollar. The pins are rough and sometime ready for broke, so, it should be handled very carefully.
Other: It is a good kit that you need to have if you are in electronics or alike field, since it is useful for small and big projects, etc. You will not have problems to use it and display everything what you want.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's compact and quite cheap. The build is quite sturdy and it is looking very good while in use. Since it has to be used as a dynamic indication, you would need only one 7-Segment LED driver.
Cons: You can only use it for dynamic indication, because all the cathode pins are common for all four digits. The pins look like they can break of easily so handle it with care. It's kind of hard to find the datasheet.
Other: It's a good product and it's cheap. If you know how to use it - buy it and make some nice project with it.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Easy to use and really easy to chain it to others due to special spacing. It comes with a special film to cover the exposed suface. It includes Decimal point on each digit. Num size 14.2mm (0.56''). low current operation. Really easy mounting on sketches or sockets.
Cons: Pins came a little bended and it seem be so fragile. The model # is on a side bottom and it erases easily if you touch it. Standard Brightness
Other: Very good product. Recommended to use with Arduino or other PICs
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very well built, for the price you can't afford something that good. Great purchase when comes to the price. If you know how to use it purchase it.
Cons: I still don't think it is that useful because I couldn't use it yet, neither could find any tutorial on the internet. That makes it difficult to use and rate.
Other: Nice but difficult to use.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -Cheap -Well built (except pins, a bit delicate, those) -Very useful in a DIY project
Cons: -Pins are a bit delicate, but not a big problem -It is a red display making it look a bit "low tech"... not a big problem. -It's max voltage is 1.8V, you'll need 4 resistors to keep it from burning out. Use 250 Ohm (or such) resistors and connect to arduino 3V pin. -It will take 12 pins on your arduino to run it. That is a bit too much just to display 4 digits.. Use a shift register with it to reduce the number of pins needed.
Other: I like it. I'd get it again. All the cons are not due to this device's faults, it is just the way this sort of displays operate.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very fine digital display. Suitable for many DIY projects. You can built with this digital display other clock's, thermographs, tachometers, other indicators!
Cons: I built with this 4-digital display my own DIY - it's clock's. Them work wery fine with this display. Light of segments is enough bright for day light. In darkness display is very bright - for me it's ok.
Other: I think get it again for my next DIY projects . All the cons are not due to this device's faults, it is just the way this sort of displays operate.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very useful display module. When you understand how to use it, is easy to get it going on your projects, even if you're not going to use it with arduino. It's very cheap compared to other displays available.
Cons: A little bit hard to use it, since we don't get a manual in the pack. It was very difficult to find something about this display module in particular, because i found nothing about the codes on the sides of the device.
Other: Very useful module.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's four 7 segment display units with a decimal point in one package. The LEDs in it are quite bright, about 15 to 20 mA per digit is enough to have a very luminuous display in the dark and it's still easily readable in daylight (it looks a bit pale under direct sunlight, but one could easily add more current if that's unwanted). The unit looks nice and even had a protective foil on the front side.
Cons: The unit I received is common-cathode. That's why I gave it only 4 stars ease of use, since that means one can't use most of the LED sink drivers available on the market. It can be used directly on an Arduino though.
Other: Buy this if you want to play around or need a 7 segment display. The price for a single unit is a bit high, but if you buy 3 at a time, it's very good.
