  • Cheap Solder, get it.

Pros: -Cheap solder, can't go wrong there. You would normally pay around $10 to $20 for solder similiar to this locally, so this is really a good deal. -For an average "Do It Yourself" person, this solder gets the job done

Cons: -This solder is a bit hard to work with. The solder doesn't seem flow as easily i thought it would. -This took quite a bit of time to melt with a 40watt soldering iron on a 20 gauge wire.

Other: -If you need solder, get this as it is the lowest priced solder you can ever find.

Pros: It's a leaded solder wire, which sould mean an easy-to-use solder wire. 0.8mm is ideal for most soldering duties (wire sodlering, through hole components, etc)

Cons: This thing doesn't contains enough flux in it. Flux is needed to clean the parts to sodler. If parts are not cleaned by the flux, the solder can't adhere to the parts and you just cannot solder anything.

Other: If you have external flux (liquid or grease) you can use this but anyway it's not very convienient. I found at DealExtreme a 0.6mm solder wire which is really better (by far). I see no reason to use this 0.8mm one.

Pros: very good price for all you get will last a good amount of time very think nice for very delicate work has lead in it for some people this may be a con but i think solder is much easyer to work with if it has lead in it and it makes a much stronger bond

Cons: for some people the fact it has lead in it

Other: Good value solder. I hope DX continues to sell and pester manufacturers to produce more solder like this.

  • Not bad Solder Core Wire

posted by NICHYPARUK on 22:43:24 G6T 22/06/2011 certificated customer

Pros: A good solder. You can solder on copper, brass, copper wires, and even iron. The presence of active flux allows to do it. Soldering them everything from microchips to diodes and mobile phones. The presence of an active solder flux solder wire can not solder to this conventional solder with rosin.

Cons: Unfortunately not known of the flux and solder. Pb free if it is. Necessarily the presence of air hoods, but call it a disadvantage might be, as it relate to the process.

Other: A good solder for home and work. I take them both at home and at work.

Pros: Very good price, this is a thin solder wire great for through hole or SMD boards with medium-pitched components.

Cons: Not enough flux in it, you should add some of your own, especially when soldering SMD components.

Other: Good one, but not the best out there; still, a great compromise, especially for such a low price. Consider you may want to add some flux if you need good precision.

  • What to say about solder

    posted by Steiner1000 on 23:07:34 G6T 06/06/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: I am a generalist and tend to work on a lot of things that need solder. Kids toys, broken wires, working on general electronics. I live in Canada and we don't have any Radio Shacks any more finding solder at a good price is difficult. This product is great and it will be a long time till I run out of solder.

Cons: Would like to see a notch in the spool like thread so I could find the end easily.

Other: Works well for my needs and cheap.

Pros: As an Electronic Eng I sometimes want to do something at home. This solder wire is fine for this purpose. Today most factories do not use lead any more so they use tin soldering wires only.

Cons: It has eutectic composition so it has low melting point.

Other: So I'm glad to have this wire, it's best for home use.

  • cheap but does the work

Pros: first ,the price : never saw some solder for this quantity for that cheap. after it is useful if you need a really thin solder wire. melt at standard temp for a solder wire.

Cons: not lead free , and its flux smell really sweet , that worries me everytime . it is so thin that it self collapse only from gravity , can be difficult to use if you do everything with your hand and don t have a board older

Other: i think now that i know the thinness , i will try to find another one a tinny bit thicker like this i can switch between both at will

    Pros: Lots of solder!

Cons: Too thick for my tastes

Other: You'd be crazy to buy solder elsewhere if these dimensions meet your needs.

  • good thin solder

posted by arnoldasgr on 09:51:32 G10T 25/10/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: thin 60/40 tin/lead alloy not that lead-free rubish ( lead boils at 1,750C so smoke comes only from flux!!! and you solder about 400C) has flux in it a lot of it, guarantees long usage time price is really good. quick cool down and hardening time have many usages, like soldering simple wires or DIY kits

Cons: none so far, good item need more flux in it

Other: great item for price, really useful did not regret buying it. when run out og it going to buy more. not comfortable to use in spool, so i wind some of and use it.
