What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Pros: Build quality is good, looks more expensive than it is. The light is transmitted in a wide area, due to the fact that there are no reflectors or collimator.
Cons: Consumes 16W on 240V ac. The light output is less than that of my 3W LEDs but the power consumption is very high, 16W. Not a GREEN lamp. A 10W halogen lamp provides more light output and needs only 10 watts. The current drawn is little bit more than 70mA at 240 volts.
Other: In the future I will consider a different lamp, more economic. Those with the three 1W LED seem to be a better solution.

Pros: This is a good bulb for use in countries with 220 volts and B22 fittings. One post has reported that these bulbs consume 16 watts of power. I state unequivocally that this is not true. The true figure is less than 5 watts. I assume the error is due to the difficulty in measuring the unusual current consumption waveforms which would require a very high quality true RMS meter or a heat based power meter.
Cons: At 3 watts there are not so many uses for this light. Some down-lights would be OK, toilets and perhaps enclosed outdoor lights, cupboards, fish tanks etc.
Other: I wish I had more places I could use them.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Cheap option for an LED light bulb, with reasonable light level in the right situation.
Standard 240v bayonet fitting.
Cons: I bought 2 to try them out. One failed within 2 seconds of turning it on. I can see at least one burnt LED in the set. I can probably salvage the others for use in other projects.
No diffuser over the LEDs means you really want to use them with a lampshade.
Other: I'd probably risk another one or two at this price to see if my 50% failure rate was a fluke. A reasonable option for a cheap LED light to try it out.
