What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Comes with quite detailed instructions, Reasonable build quality, Includes jumper.
Cons: Not the easiest thing to put inside a computer safely, I ended up covering most of mine in electrical tape and hot gluing it to the bottom of the case.
Other: Another bargain from dealextreme!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Plain and simple: plug any CF card to it and your CF card will become an IDE device. Works just the way it should!
Cons: None.
Other: Very cheap and works very well. Bought many of these and all of them works fine.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Low cost Use of CF flash card as ATA device More rugged Lower power utilization Nearly shock immune
Cons: PIO mode ATA access Only one CF slot unwieldy to mount when not a standard format (not floppy, 3.5", 2.5", mounting)
Other: It's $2 and it does adapt CF to IDE. For this price, accept what it can do instead of nitpicking about what it can't.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -Much cheaper than i'd ever expect something like this to be -Use CF card as HDD -Fast (depending on CF card) -Completely Silent -Compact
Cons: -nothing that i can think of
Other: This is a great tool for anyone looking to build a small Linux box like a network media center or if you're willing to pay for a big high speed CF card you can even install windows and just have a near silent PC. Note: no CF card will meet the performance of a HDD but for DIYers its makes a great tool
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -very cheap -efficient
Cons: -only one CF-card can be used
Other: If you need to silence your computer and/or get rid of heat producing HDDs, get a few of these and a couple of CF-cards.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Cheap, does exactly what it's supposed to. No surprises.
Cons: None that I can think of. Some might find the lack of mounting hardware a problem, but I think it increases flexibility while keeping costs down.
Other: I got three of these for about half of what one would have cost me locally.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Does exactly what it says (which is good because CF cards basically are IDE anyway)
Cons: None to speak of.
Other: Get it if you want a solid state HDD but don't want to spend the money on the specialized ones.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: i have it in a briefcase pc running tiny xp it works great low power consumption very small
Cons: kind of slow
Other: you can hide it anywhere in your pc just good to experiment with
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Amazing value Speed seems ok. Varied depending on the CF card used.
Cons: Doesn't work with either of my USB to IDE adapters Only one CF socket Average build quality; mine had a couple of pin badly misaligned (but still worked)
Other: Good
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Inexpensive CF to IDE converter. Simple and works. Well made board.
Cons: Only one slot. CF cards are not ideal for frequent write operations. Use a microdrive in this situation.
Other: If you plan a diskless router or internet kiosk, get a CF with decent speed. It should always be faster than CD boot. Watch the writing strategy on CF cards as they DO have a finite life. I would try to do swapping on a RAM drive.
