What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. Pros: Nice size, good connectors, very simple to use, supports DMA (very important).
Cons: Have to be very careful to plug it in the right way around, since the host side connector has more pins than this thing has on its connector. Pay close attention to the labeling. In my Dell X1 notebook, it has to go face-down in the drive bay.
Other: Very useful as a cheap way to roll-your-own solid state disk (SSD) from a CompactFlash card for small notebooks.
Very difficult to write 500 useful characters about something so trivial as this item.

Pros: - Build quality is excellent for such a small adapter.
- Very useful and work exactly as advertised.
Cons: - None that I can think of right now, maybe the master/ slave jumper on the adapter could be nicer if it is 90 degree bent style instead of the straight one.
Other: I ordered this "CF to Toshiba 1.8-inch IDE Hard Drive Converter" to replace the hard disk of my "Rockboxed" iRiver HP-120 with a Compact Flash card. It works like a champ, no more moving parts in my iRiver!!!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Not much to say - did exactly what I needed it to do.
Cons: - The jumper is too high. For my mod, I needed to bend the jumper close to 90 degrees to reduce the height of the adapter.
- Will not work with smaller CF cards (I tried a SimpleTech 256MB card, for example, which failed). This is not the fault of the adapter - be aware that you need a relatively new CF card for this to work.
Other: A very simple product, and did what it advertised.

Pros: Harddisk died on me for my Ipod 4G. Had to find a solution and I came across this in DealeXtreme and thought it'd be useful.
Ordered one to try and it resurrected my Ipod 4G! It's so good and easy to use that I ordered another one for standby.
Fits perfectly well in the ipod with little technical adjustments needed.
Cons: The jumper for this card has to be tweaked a little for it to fit perfectly in the Ipod 4G. It's a little too long and needed to be bent. Shouldn't be too hard with a plier in hand.
It can be used without any tweaking but you'll see a dark spot on the LCD as the jumper is pressing against it.
Other: Fun and easy to use. Thanks to DX for bringing my Ipod back to life. :)

Pros: I installed this adapter together with a Kingmax 4GB CompactFlash card inside my old iPod (4th Gen).
The iPod was recognized without any problem and was successfuly restored using iTunes.
Cons: Master/Slave jumper may be too high for slim iPods (with original hard drive of 30GB or less). It fits all right within my 40GB iPod, which is thicker.
Other: Perfect for reviving an old iPod 4G with a crashed hard drive, at a very low cost.
This one will stay connected to my audio setup and serve as an alarm clock ;-)
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Does exactly what its supposed to do
Cons: If you're using this to fix an iPod the jumper is too high to fit. I had to bend the pins together and solder them, no big deal.
Soldering quality on the pin headers look a little sketchy but it probably was fine, I reflowed them just to be sure.
Other: I've fixed 2 3rd Gen iPods with these adapters, friends just give them to me because they're junk. Pop the hard drive out and replace it with one of these and a CF card (make sure you get the connection from ipod to adapter correct) presto you have a decent ipod that cost you <$20

Pros: This product works as advertised to replace a 1.8" Toshiba drive with a compact flash card. Ive got it in a resurrected 4th generation iPod. The compactflash is more durable than a spinning hard drive, and this combination is much less expensive than trying to buy a new hard drive
Cons: One hiccup during installation: this drive converter had more holes in it that the pins coming out of the ipod. It took me a few times to get it in the right spot, but then I realized there is a "Pin 1" and an arrow printed on the board showing you where to start. (you can see it in the photo). Once I aligned the first pin in there, I plugged in the iPod and got the "unhappy folder" display. Success!
Other: It works. Good price, easy to do, and totally worth the price.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Easy to install- just plug it in and restore through iTunes. Very cheap and made my iPod work again after a few years of sitting around collecting dust.
Cons: As previous reviews have stated, there is a jumper pin that needs to be bent back with pliers so the screen displays normally. Otherwise, a little black pressure spot will show up when the iPod is closed up.
Other: I recommend this to anyone who has an iPod sitting around and is interested in fixing things.

Pros: I replace it with Toshiba 1.8" HDD on my Toshiba Portege R200. It works well with 8GB Kingston CF card with x133 speed. Read/write speed is slower then HDD but the price is a lot more cheaper! (USD300 for a HDD VS
Cons: Read/write speed is slow, not sure how is it with a higher speed CF card.
Other: Recommanded to user which need only lower read/write speed....
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Works, seems far more durable than it looks. Being used with a 133x 32GB Kingston CompactFlash card in a Toshiba Gigabeat F40. Speeds are comparable to use outside of the adapter (fast), so no complaints or issues there.
Cons: It's not as cheap as the old one? I'd still pay double or triple what I did if I had to though.
Other: If you're contemplating between this and sku.18463, get this one. It's definitely worth the difference in price.
