Cree XR-E Q2 Emitter with Star

Pros: Thicker white-colored stars Bright (but see my comment in Cons)

Cons: Damaged domes (from being crushed during shipping?)
Initial units were very bright, but more recent ones are not as bright

Other: I bought three and the last two had bits of silicone coming out from the dome, with tearing visible under the dome. DX ships these in a bubble-wrap lined envelope, but they seem to be getting crushed during shipment. After I reported this to DX, they wrapped the stars in an extra layer of bubble wrap, but the dome is still getting clobbered.
I bought several Cree LEDs on the 16mm base and I'm seeing similar damage on recent shipments.

Pros: Bright Good quality star,

Cons: DX sent me 2 types of star with different pad position to solder..

Other: Installed in my Mag 5 Cree project and it is really bright. Cant wait for R2 on DX...

Pros: + price is very competitive + very bright, nice tint + quality seems to be good, I ordered three and all of them in ok condition + easy to mount because of the star

Cons: - not as bright as SSC P4, price still a bit higher

Other: Very good power led for multiled purposes. Buy many and save a few bucks!

Pros: Well assemebled on a premium star and VERY BRIGHT! For only $3.05 when you order 10 or more, these are a steal. While not the brightest Cree chips on the market, the Q2 chips are amazingly bright.

Cons: None.

Other: Great, cheap star modules. You cannot go wrong with Cree, and these are the real deal.

Pros: I have purchased many of these and they are in use for 8 hours per day over more then 6 months.
So far not a single one showed any problems, failures or blue tint.
The Crees are running on ~700mA without getting hot if fixed to a thin (1.2mm) metal plate - in fact they get just warm which is just great as it will keep their running time hopefully for 50.000 hours.

Cons: Price is not competitive any longer. The price should be much lower as the newer and more efficient emmiters have a better price/value ratio.
@DX: Please lower the price.

Other: If you need a sturdy Cree and you don't need to have the latest emitter then you should consider these emitters.

+bright
+easy to mount

Cons: -should be cheaper
-cooler tint light than XRE Q5

Other: Good to repair old flashlights that use this type led.Very good brightness at 1 Amp.Easy to use.Good to have,but should be cheaper.
