Cute Octopus USB 4-Port Hub (Black)

Pros: It's a 4 slot USB hub. Very useful if you don't have an excess of USB slots on your PC or use a lot of USB peripherals. It's shaped like an octopus and the eyes roll around in it's little octopus head which is adorable. Plug and Play, my PC picked up on it right away.

Cons: It's NOT 2.0 which sucks since it is advertised as such. The cord isn't very long which could be an issue if you need it to go across a room or something. It seems to work sporadically at times. Sometimes it just fails during a transfer and I have to take it out and plug it back in again. Sometimes it doesn't recognize the USB peripherals you're connecting to it and it needs to be plugged in and out repeatedly to get it to work. The octopus head is pretty large and if you're trying to fit it behind a desk or your tower or something you may have issues.

Other: Cute but semi-functional. :)

Pros: It is cute and it works fine. There is no problem when using it. 4 ports separated make it easy to connect to different connection. And it sort of extend different direction.

Cons: There are a few problem with this. The main one is it is not a USB 2.0. Or at least as soon as I connect it to the computer, my PC complained it is not a USB 2.0. I wish I have read other review before ordering this item. No one anything that is not USB 2.0 any more.

Other: Turns out the octopus head is not the best idea afterall. It is very cute but it is also round. Not very stable sitting on the table or anywhere else.

Pros: Works as you would expect except its not USB 2. The LED is kinda cool, seems like everything from DX has an extra LED just for good measure, haha, but I love it. The quality of the plastic and materials isn't too bad, though it does't seem to be so precisely manufactured (see cons)

Cons: The plugs are akward. Most of them are pretty loose. There can be no tension on the connection or it will disconnect and eventually fall out. Could use electrical tape or something, if its a semi permanent connection you want to make.

Other: It was disappointing to find that it was not USB 2.0. Some things still work very well through it, including things that I think actually require the 2.0 bandwidth. I think that its just not 100% compliant. I was able to watch 1080 resolution ATSC HD TV on my Kworld brand USB tv tuner with no issue, through this hub. That would not work with 1.0. But I have an external hard drive that has some issues with it and it seems to go slow through this hub. That's why I think that its not 100% compliant with the usb 2.0 spec. Some devices seem to be okay with it, some don't. Windows 7 thinks the whole hub is 1.1. The inconsistencies make me think its still a pretty good buy, the devices you have (if you have many) which do work fine through it, this will be fine for them. Overall its a pretty good buy and I am happy with the purchase, despite the product's quirks.
