Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: + All cables supplied
+ Easy instructions
+ Sturdy Case
+ Temp probe supplied
+ Backlit screen
+ Charges almost anything
+ You can save charging profiles
Cons: - Buzzer to loud
- USB port is not a USB port
- Inaccurate when balancing
- Gets hot when discharging (no fan)
Other: It is a good charger for the beginner or for field use. There are plenty of similar chargers but with a higher pricetag.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Cheap low priced charger, Nice red anodozied color, which matches most of my r/c cars alum color and my tools and stuff. It has functions that measure how much MAH and displays voltage etc. comes with alot of plugs. and seems ok built
Cons: Charger sometimes malfunctions its self, beeping sounds like cheap, screechin, wish it had a better beep sound. there is no fan on it .
Other: this is a great lipo/nimh charger for people on a budget and does not want to spend 3X as much ..
this charger is good enough for me and exceeds in completing all my charging needs
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: What you see is what you get.
Very similar to Bantam B6 (cell for well over 100$).
Comes with temp prob.
Does exactly what it shpuld - charge.
Charges Lipo, A123, Lion, nicd, nimh, lead acid.
for this price, it is more then you can expect !
Cons: Cables are way too thin.
i cannot see how a wire with thickness like a servo wire will hold 5Amp.
The USB port is not USB and there is not a single word about it on the manual (well maybe 2 words). You need to change the function of the USB to Temp prob, using the setup screens.
Balancer is far from being accurate, for me, the 6th cell gets to 4.2V almost instantly (and it is not the case - verified with a fluke voltmeter).
Buzzer is very VERY LOUD.
The case has 8-16V AC on it, so when you touch it, you feel a litle current.
It gets Hot when charging high viltage (6s) or high current (4-5Amp)
Other: worth every cent, and I have another one ordered soon.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: + Small
+ Charges every kind of battery
+ All metal for heat conduction (see notes below)
+ Solid buttons
+ Easy to read LCD
Cons: - MOSFET is not thermally connected to case (see notes below)
- Buttons can get stuck if pressed too hard.
- Plastic film over LCD hard to remove without taking case apart
- 'USB' port really not USB.
- Slight chance of damaging charger when plugging in battery to be charged
Other: Great charger for the price. The USB port would have been nice, but it is an optional feature to be sure. The MOSFET and the battery connectors are easily fixed by taking apart the case.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -The price...can't beat it.
-Charges almost any type of battery.
-small size.
-comes with lots of different cables.
-It does have data capabilities, if you have the technical ability to get it working.
Cons: -USB port is not a USB port. DO NOT PLUG IT INTO YOUR COMPUTER.
-overall accuracy of the this charger is not very good.
-Balancing not as accurate as it should be, but it is better than not balancing at all.
-lack of an insulator between the bottom of the circuit board and the case could lead to short circuits. The ends of the components are very close to the case.
-as mentioned before, there is a transistor that should be thermally bonded to the case and it is not.
Other: If you need a charger and can't afford a really good one, this one is a good buy.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It works great, and brought back some batteries to live.
Charges much better than all the other Chargers I own.
Supports all kind of Batteries.
Cons: Sometimes the auto mode does not stop the charging (perhaps defect battery), so it is important to use the timer and the temperature stop.
Other: As it is also written in the manual, don't let it charge when you are not at home. IT works great, but I don't trust such electrical stuff.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Charge almost anything.
Build quality was better than I expected.
Cons: 5W maximum discharge means it can take very long to discharge a higher voltage pack.
Didn't detect the peak on a brand new NiMH pack I got for my Roomba resulting in overcharging the cells.
Other: Great charger for the price.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Charges most things. I've even charged a car battery with it - albeit somewhat slowly. With a bit of ingenuity making up battery holders it can be persuaded to charge most things though a lower current option for small capacity cells would be nice.
Cons: Manual is confusing and a poor print job - the pictures are hard to make out. Nor does it do a very good job of explaining things. And it would help a lot if I didn't need a magnifying glass to read it at all.
Heat dissipation ought to be better.
Other: Non-working USB port is a pity. Would be nice if it was usable for logging stuff. Not a deal breaker though. Charges things just fine, replaced quite a lot of other chargers.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Charges variable batteries. Shows voltage, controlls the circuit before charging.
Cons: At first it was a little difficult to understand how to operate with it, but after some time you'll understand how to set different charging programms. THE BIGGEST CON is that in PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION was mentioned AC to DC adaptor, but it is not included in the package !!!!! Regarding to the pics there is no adaptor at all. So i had to find myself the adaptor. Connections are not for all types of batteries. It can charge LiPo batteries but no adapter for this type of batteries included so I had to make new connections ...
Other: Be ready to find yourself an adaptor.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Universal charger (the last charger you will probably ever need) - Very useful if you have many types of batteries - Includes thermal sensor - Solid build quality - 50W of charging power - Time, capacity and temperature charging end points
Cons: - User manual in poor English and too short - Charger not intuitive to figure out (bad combo with con N1) - Overcharged my NiMH battery pack so you have to use time/capacity/temp limits
Other: If you need it - buy it. Just remember to buy DC power adaptor for it. I used one from an old IBM laptop - it works flawlessly.
