  • A should have slave flash for compact camere

posted by Ulongh on 06:26:18 G12T 10/12/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Cheap - Compatible to all digital camera (likely) - Small and lightweight - Use AA battery - Flash bracket with tripod mount in the package - Can be used as supportive light source - Slave mode (sensitivity) can be selected (S1-S4) - Working mode can be selected (Off, Normal, and Slave)

Cons: - Feels a bit cheap for its material - GN 18 is a bit too high and misrepresented, GN 12 should be more accurate - No wide angle coverage

Other: Product Page - http://www1.godox.com/_d270068527.htm Specification Guide Number (ISO100): GN18M Power: 2AA Battery Angle of illumination: 60*40° Recycle time: 6s Color temperature: 5600K*200K

  • A great item but doesn't work with NiMh

    posted by Megavvolt2 on 17:23:20 G2T 02/02/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It's a great tiny flash that works. Can go on the first, second, third or fourth pre-flashes. Can also work on a hotshoe. Hotshoe voltage is 6.5Volts - can be used on modern cameras.

Cons: Only works on primary batteries. Doesn't work on rechargeable batteries. When the batteries don't have enough juice in them the flash still turns on the "Ready" light but doesn't flash.

Other: This flash is a very cheap but good quality product. However, since NiMh batteries don't work in it, using it is really expensive because primary batteries die real quick in it. Not sure if I'd buy it again...

  • Great little flash

    posted by asgar5 on 06:17:07 G5T 30/05/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This flash worked right out of the box after putting batteries in it. I tested it with a Lumix DMC FZ18 with preflash (slave mode on S1) and it worked without problems.. Will use it as a fill in flash and may buy a couple more.
Batteries fitted well, not too tight. Tested it with NikkelAnhydride batteries and worked fine

Cons: Not really, it does what it is supposed to do

Other: Really worthwhile buying if you need a small flash to support yr main flash or if you need a fill in light

  • A must for digital camera owners

    posted by Biffo1262 on 11:43:07 G1T 17/01/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It's the only unit I've come across that copes with ALL my multi-flash digital cameras. It's small but quite powerful and I've bought two for portrait use in addition to the cameras flash. Comes with a camera/flash bar buy I use mini tripods. It's sensitive enough to pick up the master flash from quite distance. The price makes it a must for those with underpowered built in flashes.

Cons: One of the units refused to charge despite my best efforts within a month of purchase. However there has been no quibble from Dealxtreme and they have sent me another without having to return the defective unit.
It's not solidly built but it is adequate provided you don't abuse it.

Other: An absolute must for any serious digital photographer.
If you take my advice then you'll buy the two. You won't regret it.

  • Good slave flash

posted by Kasatkin on 08:59:45 G3T 07/03/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Small remote flash to use with main camera flash. Lightweight and very small, can be carried everywhere. It has several modes and can be powered from AA batteries. Perfectly works with new rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. Can be used on hot-shoe plug but not with all cameras. Includes an arm if needed to be used with main flash. Can be used to highlight objects from side for artistic photos.

Cons: Does not include manual. Does not show low batteries state. Angle can't be changed.

Other: Excellent small flash to be used as "secondary". I use it to highlight from side when make portraits. I recommend it.

  • A cheap slave flash for photography amateurs

posted by Vijayalayan on 03:02:10 G7T 29/07/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It's an ideal slave flash to experiment multiple light sources for photography amateurs with limited budget. For an indoor use, this flash provides enough Lumens to light up a small room. Battery drain is in acceptable level. So far I have ordered 3 of these little flashes (2 for my use in combination with my Canon Speedlite, and one for a gift).

Cons: Issue of an optical slave flash exists (which is not limited specifically to this product, but fits any of its kind).

Other: An Ideal slave flash for a home/small studio.

  • Great mini slave flash

posted by maxalvarez on 07:33:32 G8T 08/08/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Reduced size - Cheap - Bracket, hotshoe adapter and screws included - Easy to operate - Works perfect with Ni-Mh batteries

Cons: - Maybe too much power consumption compared with other similar powered flashes - Poor recycle time - Difficult to trigger them optically outdoors

Other: Good illumination device, very limited working range but due to their small size, can hide them really close to the subject you want to light. The optical slave mode is quite useless at daytime outdoors.

  • Nice little slave flash

    posted by szega83 on 07:47:20 G8T 11/08/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It's really small, works with 2 AA batterys. The guide number of the flash is 18, witch is mutch more powerful than the built-in flash. Also it reloads really fast after flashing. And the best thing about the device is the price.

Cons: The flash cannot be angled, and the battery level is not indicated, so you never know how many shots you can take before it runs out.

Other: Really cheap. You must have one.

  • A good slave flash

posted by hutoi on 00:10:43 G8T 27/08/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Works as it should. A rather bright flash. Can be operated in both slave mode and fitted in a camera´s hot shoe. Build quality is what you expect from your low-end camera equipment (not THAT low end). The extension arm is a nice bonus. I used it with my microphone when filming.

Cons: No operating instructions, but usage is rather straight-forward. Still, figuring out how to use the flash might take some time with trial and error, if you don´t know what to do. I did not.

Other: A nice piece of equipment, low price.
