  • Pretty good!

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It's cheap. It's fast (about 10 seconds from room temp to freezing/boiling water). It's reasonably accurate: Iced water reads 1-1.5°C and Boiling water 101°C.

Cons: Battery cover can bit a bit wobbly and will switch the unit off if pushed hard.

    Other: It's cheap, it works.

Pros: quick to get with in 3-4 degrees of the temp it settles at. may be 10-15 seconds. much more accurate that the thermometer forks or the analog dial type thermometers the probe is small and sharp great for getting a quick read on a steak over all a great deal compared to a thermo pen at about 100$

Cons: small screen. water proof? it remains to be seen how sturdy it is but it seams fine now

Other: buy it for cooking i don't regret it

    Pros: Durable, solidly built.

Cons: Buttons are a bit hard to press.

No provision for changing battery (but then how would it be waterproof?)

Other: Worth it. Faster than normal (analog) meat thermometers, and easier to read.

  • Very handy device

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Cheap price for a digital thermometer - Has a hard plastic case to cover the metal point for safe storage, it has small openenings at the bottom to allow you to take temp readings while it still has this cover on, say for a general air temp reading etc. - Comes with a temperature guide on the back of the packing for different types of meats - Easy to use - Gets the temp reading pretty quickly, I'd say it would be accurate to 1 degree as soon as you turn it on, then getting more accurate up to about 15 seconds
    - Build quality good

Cons: - Battery cover pretty hard to find/get open

Other: If you don't already have a digital thermometer around the house I recommend getting this one. You might not use it every day, but for the price it's handy to have sitting around at home incase you do need it.

Pros: Shows the temperature very fast. Shows air temperature also! Changes displayed degrees between Celsius and Farenheit with press of a button.

Cons: A bit tricky to change batteries but i

Other: Only useful if you really need one of these, but it has a really great price anyways. You can allways find the temperature of an object or even better a liquid before you touch it.

Pros: Sturdy and well built, the plastic sleeve
that protects the probe clips on firmly
(won't fall off), and the thermometer itself
    is quite sound.
I have two of these, and they measure
within 0.1C of each other, quite reasonable
accuracy for something at this price I
    think.
I use them to test aquarium temperatures,
get a nice fast response, they're good.

Cons: No real cons. The usual minor issues with
label misalignment or hard-ish to press
buttons, but hey, for this price, I'm
    absolutely not complaining

Other: They're really good. I keep finding new
uses for them all the time. Get a couple.

  • Good thermometer

posted by zachrahan on 22:06:48 G7T 25/07/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: No complaints. Seems quite accurate, even at measuring air temperature. (I checked it briefly against some good quality alcohol thermometers in my lab, and it was within a degree C of the air measurements.)
Build quality appears good -- the thermometer feels solid enough.

Cons: Nothing really. It's a good device.

Other: Good and inexpensive. Why pay five times as much for an instant-measuring meat thermometer from Williams-Sonoma when you can have a bright yellow one that says "Angel" on the side in a brush-stroke typeface?

  • Great for meat and aquariums.

Pros: - A great thermometer i use for fish tanks and my mother uses her for cooking.
    - with this little device i can accurately read the temperature of my tropical aquariums which is vital when calibrating a breeding tank.
    - it also ensures meat is properly cooked and at the correct temperature.

Cons: - Rather large even for a meat thermometer.
    - The battery is hard to access. (read previous reviews to find out how to do this.

Other: A cheap, big, thermometer that is accurate to 1 decimal place.
