Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Bright throws well, small light weight, thin,it came lubed up ! works well no flickering
LED centered perfectly, had no sticker on it like the picture
Cons: Lacks a little grip on the head needed to turn it on off, can't tail stand.
I had to install a second O'ring so the head would not unscrew, there was an unused groove for the O'ring so now it has two.
Other: Think I will buy more for presents I need more points :)
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Great price for a cree R2.
- Pretty floody (I prefer that actually)
- Bright. comparable to LOD-CE Q4 on bright
- Use AAA
- Small and well built
- comes with a buckle
Cons: - Not sure if it's really a cree R2
- Don't think it's driven hard enough
- Lack of grip, hard to one hand activate
- head is glued (or maybe i dont have the right tools to unscrew it, but it didn't unscrew at all with my bare hands)
- Not HAIII (expected... it's only $15)
Other: Great edc if you want something small and floody. Great for gifts because it's small and use AAA. Buy a few! Pretty darn bright for an AAA light.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Great price for this little light.
Very bright light for an AAA light.
Light and small.
Great mix of throw and flood.
Cons: Loose thread for the head.
Too slippery to hold and to twist the head when turning it on.
It does not tail stand.
The battery only last 30min at max.
Not HAIII.
Mixed of ring pattern to the beam.
Other: Good for the price.
Willing to pay a bit more if taking care of all those Cons just mentioned.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Amazing Flashlight, was alot smaller than I was expecting. Based on the photos I thought it would be a bit bigger. I think the size of it makes it a good point. The throw of the light is quite good, however works better as a flash light.
Cons: The head un-screws quite easily, as a result, it may be activated in your pocket or un-screwed. Alot of people have mentioned that they have fixed this issue with another o-ring. Confirmed there is a spot for one, however I have not fitted mine with one as of yet. No ability to stand it on its tail due to lug. Would also be handy to have the feature to focus the beam.
Could use a criss cross grip on the main body, however due to the shape you can still turn it on one handed.
Other: Well worth the money, quite an impressive flash light, this will be attached to my fire fighting gear & used on the job. Will be interesting to see how well it handles a going house fire & the heat.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Very bright for its size and concidering the AAA batteries.
- Comes without the DX Label. But Aurora Trademark labeled on the flashlight, which is not visible on the DX pictures.
- Great, no colour tint. Just cool white.
- Doesn't get warm fast.
Cons: - Cheap mountain clip - but hey its a add-on
- No need to use a R2 for this flashlight as it does not show the performance the R2s
- As the reflector is tiny, which is naturally a fact because of the build size of the flashlight, do not expect a focussed beam.
- Finishing yould be a little bit better
- Aluminium body has a dent, I guess I am not lucky.
- I just don't like twist-switches. It is an inaccurate on-off if you ask me. But nevertheless it works without flickering.
Other: Will buy a couple more as exclusive give-aways. Uses standard AAAs so perfect as gift.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: AAA factor
Price
Decent little light
Comes with buckle clip
Cons: O-ring missing.
Threading is a little loose - see other reviews.
Not HA-III (but not expected at this price)
Other: More of a gadget guy than I am a flashaholic. Used for EDC on my key-chain. Looks like it will be great for that purpose. Decent little light (flood) overall.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Good price.
Looks nice.
Bright for its size.
Does not crush batteries.
Decent run time.
Decent throw.
Decent build quality.
Small enough for keychain.
Cons: Easy to cross thread.
Doesn't feel like R2, but do you really expect an R2 at this price?
Thread/O-ring a little loose, but fixable by adding a spare o-ring from Fenix E0.
A little long for an AAA light.
Other: A good keychain light and worth the money.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: 1. Uses AAA batteries
2. Lightweight
3. Works
4. Says Cree down the side of it
5. It's black
6. It's small
Cons: 1. It flickers
2. The head needs to be almost completely
screwed off in order to turn off
3. It scratches easily
4. It's not terribly bright
5. It eats batteries like nothing else
Other: I feel ripped off. I would not buy this again.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -Size is great for a keychain light. not much wider than the AAA it runs off.
-very light weight, again, perfect for keychain
-very bright! Mine leaves nothing to be desired for a general use flashlight.
-good combination throw and spill
-nice price considering what an LOD-CE goes for
Cons: -Threading was HORRIBLY loose. I had to put teflon tape on to keep the head from falling off.
-I could not find an O ring of the correct size (GITD would have been nice) that may have solved that problem
-carribiner (?buckle) is flimsy
Other: Buy these for non-enthusiasts to put on their keys and they will be more than pleased. samll/lightweight, bright, inexpensive, simple one mode. Just buy some teflon tape or O rings as well.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Nice to use as a keychain. Uses common batteries. Mine is well built.
Cons: Not realy a R2. This light is noticeably less bright then a R2 or a P4 for that matter. The diode inside defers from R2 even in shape. DX should take that part off the description.
I can bet it will get seriously scratched up around keys.
Other: Nothing more then just a keychain. Could be more useful then these $1-$2 throw-away led keychains they have.
