Flood-to-Throw Zooming Glass Optics Cree P4-WC 3-Mode LED Flashlight (3*AAA)

Pros: - Zooming optics is very very usefull
- Thrower monster
- Perfect flood beam
- Usefull modes (mid and hi....strobe not more)
- Hi output current (in hi mode)
- Compact and manageable

Cons: - Very bad heatsink
- Plastic lens NOT glass lens
- Strobe mode not SOS mode
- Build quality
- Not o-ring on head

Other: The most cons is the bad heatsink, in hi mode for more than 5 minutes risk of burn the led is hi!

Pros: Very bright for a small led flashlight. Very simple to use. The focus action by pulling or pushing the front lens part is especially useful; you can do it with one hand, freeing the other hand to do other stuff.

Cons: It is the described SOS mode which made me purchase the flashlight. But I am disappointed to see it is only a strobe mode, i.e. the light blinks at a constant frequency. A true SOS signal should be 3 short,3 long, 3 short signals. I strongly advise DX to correct their description as it is misleading.

Other: A good flashlight for its price. The push and pull focus mechanism is especially useful. I will purchase one with a single mode if there is no true SOS signal as described. Correct the description or sell one with true SOS signal please.

Pros: -good manufacturing -small -bright, but could be much, much more with better optical design (see "other thoughts") -easy handling (zooming only) -easy to take apart ;-) -AAA always available -modes is -full-half-strobe-, half is still brighter than my old 1W reflector torch. Strobe is usefull as a defensive weapon, as it blinds the enemy and produces a bad headache :-) Memory works fine, when light is off for some seconds -came with lanyard and holster(!) -lanyard is big enough for big hands! -item arrived in less than two weeks

Cons: -zoom function not smooth, head is loose -not water-resistant without (known) modifications -could be much brighter, "flood" gives a lot more output than "throw": point it to a white ceiling in a dark room, zoom and watch the floor, remarkable difference!! (see "other thoughts") -clicky not for big thumbs -lanyard-style makes it hard to use holster (see "other thoughts") -mode-memory takes some time (>10sec) -switching on-off/modes and zoom-function nearly impossible with one hand (see "other thoughts") -thermal design could be much better, my light becomes dim after some seconds of use! -had to clean the inside (much easier to do before assembly, I hope the manufacturers read this!)

Other: The flood to throw- feature is, why I ordered this light, and it's great. It's very useful for an everyday-use-light and I don't want to miss it. But it could be much better, if the optical design would be increased. In throw-mode it seems like 50% of the emitters output is used to light up the inside of the torch. As an engineer I hate to waste power, but this is, what this design does. But it is still able to project the light to a wall 200m away. And even flood might be much brighter, when using a reflector for the emitters side-output. I know, these chinese lights are very low-priced, but 2 o-rings for the head and one for the lens will make this thing zoom smooth and waterproof, and a tiny reflector around the emitter to increase the output are not expensive, but will make it nearly perfect.

Pros: Between ordering and receiving the light is just 10 days. I'm more than happy. You should order this (rather than C30) if you need it in a hurry. Pros : 1. Again, like the C30, it's overall size is perfect for my palm. 2. Very bright light ! 3. The zoom again are a nice and practical feature. 4. This one come with 3 mode, and I really like the "half-power" mode. Most of the time I don't really need the full power when working close range. 5. Come with Holster.

Cons: 1. Plastic lens 2. It look the same, but look like the C30 have a smoother finish around the zoom area compared with this. Anyhow, it doesn't affect the light, just the feel.

Other: It's cheap and highly recommended if you like the mode. If not, you can settle for the C30.

Pros: Extremely versatile. The spot mode is almost as good as the recoil thrower DX sells, while the flood is extremely smooth over a very wide angle.
Low and High modes are reasonably separated in terms of brightness.

Cons: No memory mode. The strobe mode on this model isn't to useful.
Build quality on the model I received isn't all that great. It loses contact somewhere, and often requires a lot of smacking to light up.
You can't take it apart without destroying it. So no real upgrades are possible.

Other: If you get one that works properly, it would be an awesome value and very versatile light. This version uses commodity batteries, which is great if you need to take it somewhere and don't have your lithiums and chargers.

Pros: it's focusable! so no need to have 2 flashlights (one flood and one throw), this one can be adjusted from flood to throw and back in a second
the handstrip is useful
pretty bright
the focused spot can be clearly seen from 200m

Cons: kinda hard to press the button or adjust it by one hand (requires some skills, can be learned)
the photo shows something like reflector inside but mine doesn't have one

Other: very nice, useful (and kinda unique) flashlight

Pros: Just received mine about a week ago, it took about a month to get in Indonesia. Open it, then feel it, felt good & sturdy in my grip. It has metal (/alum) body, PLASTIC LENS & REFLECTOR. 3 modes working great!, flood 2 throw is amazing!, it can lite up my path for about 50-70 meters long!!, using Sanyo-ENELOOP AAA. GREAT TORCH in small PACK

Cons: THE HEAD BEZEL for FLOOD 2 THROW control is kinda LOOSE

Other: Great torch, perfect light, fit for its price!

Pros: it is bright
the focus is adjustible- can zoom in and out
very useful
small and compact
very easy to carry and its handy
comes with pouch.
uses 3 AAA batteries, hence the battery life should be quite long

Cons: built quality for some not as good- the zooming in and out part is quite loose/ rough for some

Other: good buy. cheap and worthy. i bought 5 of them. all did not DOA and worked pretty well except for slight glitches such as the built quality as mentioned above. other than that, nothing else except its a good buy!

Pros: Absolutely worth it's price. Zooming option is fantastic and you can also choose 3 modes.
I use it with 3 x aaa rechargeable batteries and am very satisfied with it's brightness. Imagine what it would do with a trustfire battery ;-)

Cons: Cannot imagine what you would use the stoboscope-mode (flickering) for. This could have been left out.
No memory, so you have to click through the modes, but after each mode the next click is off, so not really a problem.

Other: If you are not too picky and need a bright flashlight with a zoom... Get this one !

Pros: Very bright white led, the projection cone width can be adjusted from close to infinity, almost like a laser, can project really far up the cloud in narrow mode. Strobe is really fast and could probably be used to blind temporarily as self defence. good construction quality, solid, waterproof

Cons: the low light mode is annoying as you need to cycle trough to get full intensity, who need that feature anyway... when in narow mode, the projection spot is squate! well, the shape of the led inside, not really a con but look weird.

Other: you wont find such a nice flashlight at this price anywhere else
