FreArduino Leonardo R3 for Arduino (Works with Official Arduino Boards)

Pros: This is my first Arduino device. I generally know how to use one (I am a computer engineer). And this little gadget is a miracle! It allows you to do many things, play with leds, motors, photosensors, IRDA and many others. Wow! I am really impressed. It is well built, powers from the usb, works flawlessly under my ubuntu linux.

Cons: Well, there is nothing wrong with the device, however the packaging was not strong enough considering that this is a brittle electronic device. Actually the box of the product was smashed when it arrived. Thank God, the board itself was not harmed.

Other: If you want to learn about electronics and make your own smart gadgets, get this along with a starters kit.

Pros: The board does what it is supposed to do. It is arduino board stripped to basics in order to minimise excessive consumption. Nice for hobists and amateur electronics, and also can be used in real low power applications.

Cons: Very neatly done, clean solders. USB cable comes in the package. SPI port strip not soldered, so you need to solder it if you want to use it.

Other: Good price for the hardware.

Pros: Wonderful Arduino compatible, better in every aspect than the original Leonardo IMHO. MiniUSB cable, SPI broken out in a header, 3.3 / 5v switchable operational voltage, reliable voltage regulators that don't run hot, good quality connectors, and a neat look. What more could you want? Also, they are SO cheap. Reset button on the side. The cable is short - I actually like that.

Cons: Serial port numbers will change everytime you reset the board (not during programming) or re-plug it. Could lead to annoyance at times. LED indicators SO bright they will rip your eyes out. Might need to cover them with electrical tape if you are leaving this unit built in somewhere.

Other: Better than the original Leonardo, an still cheaper. Also, white. Don't bother ordering just one, you'll want another really soon, because they are so cheap you'll be willing to leave them inside your projects.

Pros: I loved the white painting: the informations printed in the board like pin numbers, pwm identifiers are very visible, and it's the first time I see a white board. As an arduino board: it works as expected, and the usb plug uses a common shape.

Cons: the usb cable that ships with board is SHORT. It's fine when one is debugging one's robot in the workbench, but if you need to test, say, a vehicle, like a small robot, one has problems with the small cable.

Other: cheap, beautiful. It's unusual colour is useful to distiguish between other boards in one's workbench. The usb cable issue is not that bad because it's easy to find usb cables that can plug in the board.
