Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: got them quikly and they worked great (although one was alot dimmer than the other
meant for 3v but i have one hooked up to a usb and it works great
they have very good beam divergence although i would like to focus
Cons: not much exept for one of them being dimmer
also i would like to have an adjustable focus
Other: there great, get them! they will work for your projects that call for a 5mw red laser. not much else to say :)
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: The ones I purchased have very little beam divergence. I was expecting to need some lenses but they put a dot on the wall 10 feet away no trouble. The photo with these makes it look like they diverge a lot.
All 6 I bought were almost exactly the same output (from an uncalibrated eyeball.)
Cons: Not much to say. The build quality looks a little cheap but they are cheap units!
Other: Cheap Cheerful, "does what it says on the tin" i.e. red laser
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Small but strong laser.
Ideal for use in DIY projects: cheap and good material.
Long connection wires with clear marking for polarity (RED for the positive pole and BLACK for the negative one).
Verry sharp dot: Almost no beam divergence.
The two received lasers have the same divergence and brightness.
Cons: The quality if the package looks a little cheap but they are strong enough for general use.
Other: Great product, great price, fast and FREE shipment ... I love it :)
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very good price, nice two-pack. Black and red wire - you know instantly which polarity are they. Nice for soldering. Very nice beam, quite sharp collimation. Heavily built case.
Cons: Not focusable. Not sure about the needed voltage...from 3V to 5V seems to have constant lightness...I suppose, that the resistor and also maybe a zener diode or something like that is inside..but is it really there? Otherwise it should change the intensity of the light when changing the voltage..
Other: I want more of them!:)
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Does not need a regulator.Built in.
Starts to lase at about 2 volts (you can just see a thin line of light if you look straight into it.
Full brightness at 4 volts.
The on built in regulator is quite happy at 16 volts.
sealed unit so no dust can get in.
Cons: I bought 20 packs of two and out of those only 2 were sub standard but at the price i didn't bother to complain to DX.
Fixed focus.
As the voltage is raised the unit gets warm because the regulator needs to dissipate more power.
not easy 2 mount but a spot of araldite sorts that out.
five milliwats is nice but fifty is better.
Other: SOOOper value.
Buy a hundred and mount them in a torch. Now that would make a powerful flashlight, Forget L.E.D. torches a laser torch would kick ass big time :-)
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -There's a 2-pack!
-They run from 5V (internal regulator)
-Sealed back (where the cables emerge)
-Nice and strong 5mW modules, not like the otherwise round 1mW available.
Cons: -Non adjustable focus
-Bit of diffraction
-Beam's bit off center (easily adjusted by moving the casing thouh)
Other: You wont regret a purchase.. I have 10 of them so far!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Solid well built module
Good value
Excellent voltage stability - steady light output from 2.2v to 6v (didn't try higher voltages)
Starts to lase at around 2v.
Good beam symmetry
Sealed unit.
No light bleeding from rear of module.
Cons: Case is not isolated (connected to + supply)
Larger size than other similar modules, for instance SKU13378.
Other: Good value for money. Well built modules and a 2 pack to boot!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: THE PRICE! THE QUALITY! THE EASY TO USE AND A THE STRONG RAY !'Bought this to replace my other the useless pointer on my laser. If you use a laser cutter you may have a 'red dot' pointer attached near the lens and pointing down at 90 degrees. As you will have found out by now, any adjustment of the laser focus means the red dot is no longer correct. My idea was to replace the 'dot' with a line. Didn't work for what I wanted. At the distance involved (about 50mm) it was way out of focus and blurred. This is supposed to be an adjustable unit, but there's no way to adjust the focus, in fact the only adjustment is to rotate it so the cross rotates. Oh well, maybe I can find another use for it... It is is what it is - a very inexpensive well done unit!
Cons: none at this good unit!
Other: good fun!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Well-built, regulator included, strong enough to be usable yet safe, as they are not strong enough to cause eye damage. Quite cheap, too, and they come in twos.
Cons: None at all. Worked very well for my purposes.
Other: Recommended for all kinds of laser DIY projects, including playing with the cat. Not as dangerous as the other powerful laser modules sold here, but don't risk shining at eyes with it.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Two in a pack, which means lower overall cost
- Two pack - you would probably use more than one anyway. Wouldn't you? :D
- Standard 5V supply voltage means usability bonus and comfort
- Rugged, strong casing. Perfect.
- Quality beam.
Cons: - Only a slight corona around at low distance.. which is not a con for a normal use.
- A little diffraction
Other: Want it? .. Buy it!
