H3 Focus-Adjustable and Dimming Cree Q5 White LED Headlamp Set (3xAAA)

Pros: -Very bright!
-Smooth zoom function
-Smooth dimmer works great!
-Very small and light for the power and versatility
-Single LED source covers all lighting requirements from super-bright spot to low-intensity flood for reading
-Good construction quality in most regards
-Single on-off clickie is VERY nice, no cycling through modes, and excellent position under light.
-Long battery life (about 3 hours)
-Has endured two good rain storms without problems

Cons: -Strap around head too short (strap over top is fine)
-Uncomfortable against forehead
-Beam pattern great (smooth, no dark patches) from full zoom to about 1/2 flood, but then a dark area develops in the centre. Not too bad, and doesn't interfere with reading or cooking in the dark, but a little annoying.
-Light swivels down for close-up, but the clicks are way to coarse-- only about 3 settings from horizontal to straight down. Need finer clicks (more settings)
-The hinge is made of small plastic tabs... on other Deal Extreme headlights, the plastic hinges have broken; these look similar and might crack off within a year or so.

Other: Good price on a good headlamp that is great with a few mods.

Pros: Possibility of regulation of brightness. Changes of focus of light. Small weight. Convenience of use. The good price. Qualitative manufactures.

Cons: Belts are regulated, but does not suffice. It is not calculated on a head of the big sizes or large people. Fastenings of adjustment of an angle of slope look fragile if you will drop, it is possible to break.

Other: I recommend all a coma the easy and convenient small lamp is necessary with such functions. It would be desirable ?? that it cost more cheaply at least for 5-7 dollars, but not to the detriment of quality, if it is impossible then to improve quality of belts and to make more reliable mechanism of change of an angle of slope. I take the second as the first was elicited by the acquaintance. Has again spent 3 days for searches that that similar. And again at this price is better has found nothing.

Other: at all richness of a choice of other alternative at this price isn't present. if means allowed, would buy also a phoenix. but they in 2-3 times are more expensive

Pros: No silly modes included (like seizure inducing SOS flashing that is never going to be used), this light is either "ON" or "OFF".... brilliant. Solid overall construction, quality switch that's well positioned to prevent accidental operation when thrown in a toolbox or backpack.

Cons: As mentioned by other reviewers, the straps are too tight for anyone who is older than 12. I smashed up and threw away the clips and sewed the straps together. Now the clips don't hurt my head and the straps are loose enough to be comfortable. Not cheap, but they are worth it. I didn't realise until I read the other reviews and I agree, the hinge mechanism needs smaller positional steps. 3 steps is too course and really isn't good enough (I wonder what sort of people they employ to design things like this when they miss things that are obvious). The dimmer knob on the battery box works fine, but it'll be the first thing to break.

Other: Buy one and be impressed.
