Hand-Crank Desktop Pencil Sharpener

Pros: Gets pencils REALLY sharp.

Other: If you have blunt pencils, get one of these.

Pros: I've got 4 kids and a box full of dead pencils - this sharpener makes short work of them. Pencils are *sharp* and it is mostly (99%) able to sharpen them without breaking the lead it is exposing.
Internal mechanism is all metal and looks well engineered.

Cons: The crank handle is made of plastic and I wonder just how long it will last.

Other: I bought this sharpener on the previous review by Jay D, and I have to say he was spot on in his comments. Great pencil sharpener - if you want one, buy this.

Pros: Nice and cute, gets the pencils very sharp, and it doesn't break the tip of the lead mine.

Cons: Maybe a bit too pointy. The one I received wasn't like the one pictured, but still is OK. The colours were pink and white. It seems as if Asians are more fond of colors than most Westerners..

Other: If you are tired of those simple sharpeners that only ruin your pencils by breaking the tip, get this! It also does the job a little faster.

Pros: It sharpens your pencils very quickly and does not break the lead whilst doing so, so you dont have to sharpen again. The taper is a bit more acute thatn your usual sharpener but doesnt really matter.

Cons: Only fits standard size pencils. any larger diameter ones just don't go through the hole. not the best quality but as some bits look ike they could fall off after a little use. The downside of sharpening your pencils quickly is they run out quickly! ie. they get very short very fast! Especially when the kids love using it and just grind away their pencils!

Other: Overall great sharpener. reminds me of the old teachers sharpeners when I was at school. not too sure of longevity but for the price it's not to bad.

Pros: This is the cheapest hand-cranked pencil sharpener that I have found that uses a real helical cutting blade - properly called a 'burr cylinder'. (Rather than the straight edge you get on stand-alone 'prism' sharpeners.) The interior seems fairly serious, with metal mechanism, even though the exterior is all plastic.

Cons: The sharpening angle is rather acute. The pencils end up too sharp!

Pros: I always wanted an item to personalize my space at work, and I cannot think of anything better than this usuful item. It is designed very well, has nice and bright colours, and works perfectly. Every review says it, but I think it cannot be repeated enough – it makes the pencils really really sharp. I know it is a joke, but I am the official pencil sharpener now in the office, and all the pencils are sharp and people working :)

Cons: For me it is not a problem, but the handle might seem to small when big hands use the sharpener. I cannot imagine the item to be used by small kids (sharp sharp pencils), nor by adults with big or chubby hands (no offence).

Other: This sharpener never failed me, and I can honestly recommend it.

Pros: Pencils get super sharp. Large holder for pencil shavings. Inside looks like solid metal construction, so will maybe it will last awhile.

Cons: Awkward to hold, you need small kid hands, but kids are not strong enough to operate it. The non-slip rubber pad on the bottom does nothing, you have to hold it from the top and push down as you crank with minimal number of fingers. The cranking handle is too close to the body of the sharpener, so you may stop the sharpening process inadvertently, if so just keep going. Best if you use it close to the right edge of a desk and make sure there's no lip at the edge. Lead sometimes break inside, but there's no way to see the lead. I just took an awl and pushed down on it. Sharpener worked again.

Other: Takes some getting used to, worth the money, but may need a backup for days you don't want to mess around with this sharpener.

Other: From the childhood wanted to have such sharpener of pencils. Thought that my children's dream never to be carried out, but thanks to dx the dream came true :) that I wanted to receive this that. I about a sharpener of pencils :)

Pros: It REALLY sharpens pencils (for some it maybe a con, but for me it is good) Quality looks good. Good price.

Cons: Can't be fastened to the table. For smaller kids it might be hard to use.

Other: A great sharpener, but for my five year old daughter it is not convenient as it can't be fixed to the table so she has to hold it with one hand while using it. Although for me it is well worth the money as it makes needle-sharp pencils.
