  • Not bad at all

Pros: Nice soldering iron for jobs where your low-power soldering station cannot deliver enough heat (power connectors, etc.).
Temperature regulated (however it's hard to believe the scale values).

Cons: Not a regular ground terminal - you have to connect the crocodile style terminal to the ground port. Why the manufacturer not using a standard 3-wire cable? Probably the price considerations...
The tip is mounted using side screw - I would prefer the cup-nut type locking (this tip mount type on exactly the same soldering iron sold in some eBay shops)
It can also be $2-$3 cheaper.

Other: Not bad and probably the only 60W type sold by DX.

Pros: Cheap and fairly easy to use, has several choices of temperature (200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450) Has a ground-clip so that you can connect it to a water tube or something to avoid shocking.

Cons: I had to buy sku.3529 for it to work with my AC-outlet, other than that, not so much.
Don´t know what more i could write here, other than this is not good enough for small objects...

Other: If you have some audio cables or something you need to solder, buy this cheap shit, if you´re going to solder something smaller, buy a better one.

  • Very nice for home hobby electronics

Pros: First of all is the price! It's unbeatable for 60W with adjustable temperature. The iron is quite well built, sits well in the arm. Please remember that it's not a professional iron station. The transparent plastic case is an advantage. Also the separate ground wire that I can connect to the circuit and prevent it from burning is a huge advantage.

Cons: None really. It's not a professional station, and it shouldn't be.

Other: I bought also the "sku.23446" and they fit OK in the iron. Not a perfect fit, but good enough. Overall I'm absolutely happy with this purchase.

Pros: This is one of the DX items I have bought that I'd class as a little gem;- It just works so well, and the build quality is great - much better than I'd expected at this price. I'm no expert at soldering - just the occasional plug attachment, or electrical device fix, and this little iron makes the job so easy even for me.

Cons: Has a US plug so I require an adapter. Not really a problem.

Other: Just great. If you want a lightweight, easy to use and good quality soldering iron, I recommend this one.

Pros: Very good soldering iron with wide range of temperature. Fast heating. Comfort temperature regulator. American standard socket.

Cons: Why American socket standard!? Ground wire with crocodile fixing. Will be more better to use standard euro socket and cable with a ground.

Other: Very cheap and good just buy it for sure.

  • DIY Soldering Iron for Home.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Great tips for home-engineering. Temperature regulation is very convenient. No need additional power adjustment. A simple adjustment allows you to melt the thermal glue, floating rose and high temperature solder. The LED inside the handle indicates the inclusion of heating, when the tip reaches the set temperature, LED goes off. In addition to the power cord is the grounding wire. Since the soldering iron to solder electronics at 220V, it is recommended to ground the unit. It is possible to easily change the sting, is enough to unscrew the screw that secures the sting.

Cons: Plastic handle, perhaps can crack if dropped. No PID controller. Easy ON OFF thyristor with an income of temperature

Other: Recommend to the poor electronics. A good alternative to soldering stations.

Pros: it is as is described, nothing to add... led indicates the inclusion of heating, when the tip reaches the set temperature, led goes off. In addition to the power cord is the grounding wire. It is good to be grounded for sure. Wide range of temperature.

Cons: non-EU plug, changed the cord (with preinstalled plug - to keep size smaller), that is little frustrating

Other: good to have one at least (i got two) but gifted one :)

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Adjustable soldering iron, 220V version. First, i plug in it to 110VAC socket and temperature has extremelly low. Yes, it is 220VAC version.
Also i have measured consumted power it will be as described 63W.
Light weigt, build quality is normal (not very good, but ok).

Cons: - US Plug (For what if this 220VAC version)?
    - Undivided ground connector. It sometimes not needed (wires, resistors, the elements are insensitive to static electricity).
    - Temperature control not very accurate. On soldering tip it less then selected.
    - No additional tips.

Other: Good soldering iron, but price will be 7-8$.
    Good for newbie.

posted by simokuosmanen on 15:01:48 G7T 20/07/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: 1) It's heat adjustable. 2) Small tip. 3) Grounding wire. 4) Thermostate protection, so no overeating. 5) Heats quickly enough.

Cons: None so far. Still working just fine. You may need to buy a power plug!

Other: Good soldering iron for beginners and perhaps for some sort of pro users. Price should not be too high to buy this!

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Looks like it's good quality. I do not tried to use it for a very long time, but it good for home and some hobby DIY's.

Cons: The tip of iron is too thin, suitable for soldering some smd's but not for bigger parts. Recommend to purchase a soldering tips for it. Temperature regulator is easy to turn by you finger, so it good and bad simultaneously, because sometimes it may be suddenly changed
