  • Great wifi network dongle

Pros: It's a good item that supports the latest wifi signals (wifi n) and the instructions that came with it (and the linux live CD) are great!! It works excellent on any PC! The program for using it isn't very difficult to use, and the signal strengh og the wifi is ok.

Cons: I had some difficulties on installing the drivers on my macbook pro, the mini-CD that comes can't be inserted on the macbook, and I had to use another PC to get the drivers, but it works great now :)

Other: It's a good product if you have a PC without any wifi card, or you want to get a stronger wifi signal, 'cause it cames with a long cable, and if you have usb male-female cable, you can use it and then put it on the best place the wifi signal arrives :)

Pros: Seems to be quite powerful. I bought it with another directional antenna, but found that the one that comes with it works really well.
Comes with a copy of BackTrack linux 3, and the "user manual" consists of one pane on how to install the drivers on windows, and 6 panes showing how to use Backtrack to crack people's wifi.

Cons: It says it supports Mac OS X, but the tools are completely broken on 10.6 Snow Leopard. All I could get it to do was scan and find AP's, I could not join them (the app just crashed when attempting to do so)
Basically the tools seem pretty bad on all platforms it supports, Windows, OS X and Linux, though the windows tools actually work, and i managed to make a connection to my AP.

Other: If you're using it for windows, and don't want to do anything more advanced than connect to wireless access points you're allowed to, then it's a great, powerful tool. Otherwise, find something else.

  • Great connection and signal strength, no 802.11n

    posted by p1x3l on 15:19:41 G6T 19/06/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Very strong signal strength, and drastically improved range vs. other adapters. - Well build unit - solid construction and it looks good. - Clip is handle for mounting in various places.

Cons: - Can not connect at 802.11n to my Trendnet 632BRP router. While connection is solid at 54mbps, I expected more from this. I'm able to connect with 802.11n using other adapters, so the issue is specific to this unit. - Drivers are RA-Link defaults and lack usability. - Quite expensive for a DX product.

Other: - Get it for the range, not the compatibility.

    Pros: Excellent build quality. Beautiful!

Comes with a BT3 cd and a cracking-wep-for-dummies instructions manual.
Really fast injection (500000 IV's in 15 min).
Windows 7 ult x64 installed driver automatically.
Works very well with N networks.
My intel 3945 built in card detected 7 networks, while the dongle detected 15.

Cons: I really can't think of any cons... it exceeded my expectations!

    Other: Buy it! = )

  • This device ROCKS!

    posted by SATMASTER119 on 08:50:28 G8T 12/08/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Where do I start, as I have so much good to say about this.
The device itself is very well constructed (the clip on the back of the device is REALLY handy for hanging off the top of my laptop. The antenna screws on firmly and is very well constructed (not flimsy at all). The USB cable that comes with the package is good and substantial. The device drivers install without a hitch (Windows 7 x64/ULTIMATE).
If you're so inclined to break peoples WEP passwords, this software included works great. I tried breaking into my own WEP protected router, and it worked slick and painlessly. It did however take me 3 computers before I could find one that would actually run the CDROM included (bootable linux distribution).
The instructions that come with it are perfect. Minimal instructions required to install the device (plug it in and load the driver, enough said), and the instructions on running the LINUX CD for breaking encryption, perfect!
Overall everything included in this package is of top notch quality. I didn't need to get or download anything else. It's all included.

Cons: The only CON that I can think of is that I didn't buy TWO of these (one for a spare).

Other: Well, the bottom line here is that you're looking at a heck of a deal. The range is terrific, product quality is top notch. Installation is painless, and all the supplied drivers simply WORK! As does the linux disc included. You won't find a better deal anywhere than with this device! Two thumbs up!

  • Great Item!!!

posted by edenh on 05:12:45 G8T 13/08/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Lots of pros about this item: 1. Designed very well. 2. Really good signal. 3. Good for Win7 XP and Vista. 4. Installed without any CD.

Cons: I found just one that it not connects with another cable than the original that come with it.

Other: Buy it if you use WIFI and not get the max from your router. I recommend on it very much. I think that its better than every wifi USB that you will find in the Internet, so buy it and you won't disappoint.

  • It would be better

posted by swytm on 14:26:01 G9T 28/09/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Good quality construction, easy to install on Windows Vista and easy to use it.

Cons: It isn't much better than my original adapter im my laptop (Intel 5100). In general, it increases only one or two (sometimes) bar in signal compared to Intel adapter for those closest networks. However, you notice the advantage of an external antenna for far networks, because the internal adapter is not able to detect them.

    Other: none.

  • best 300Mbps i've seen

posted by holstix on 14:18:30 G4T 11/04/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Best N adapter i've ever seen.
    Well build.
Windows 7 finds the driver in 10 seconds.
    Works on Linux and PC.

Cons: The range isnt 5000m, more like 500-600m on an N network (it says 1000m on package)
Doesnt pick up g and b networks as well as N (but i didn't expect that it would do it.)

Other: It is a very good product, but for maximal range the antennas needs to be replaced.
Bought some 16 dBi antennas and got nearly 1,5 kilometers of signal!

  • Adapters work great, poor driver support in win 7

posted by Mussels on 01:16:07 G5T 15/05/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Works great in backtrack 5, cracked a WEP wifi in under 7 minutes, my first time using a linux OS.
Adapters come with built in drivers in windows 7 - some problems with this, see cons.

Cons: Built in drivers to windows as well as generic ralink drivers work fine, but only at 150Mb to my TP link router (TL-WR941ND).
I bought these for the 300Mb feature, so its damned annoying it doesnt work. a TP link branded 300Mb adaptor connected just fine and synced at 300Mb.
When connected to an XP SP3 machine without the drivers installed, it caused havoc on the machine. USB mouse stopped responding properly and the system lagged so badly i couldnt install the drivers. Did not attempt a fix.
The software (note: driver only install works) bundled with the adapters (and the latest update from ralink in late 2010) do NOT work in windows 7 x64, SP1. It refuses to connect to networks and actually breaks windows own wireless connections, making wifi networking unusable until the software is uninstalled.

Other: If you dont have the issues i did with getting a 300Mb connection, you'd probably be happy running just the basic drivers without the software.
My problems are all software related and not hardware, so its quite possible a driver update will fix these issues. eventually.

Pros: -Fast shipping, about 10 days after placed the order. -500mW instead of the 100mw eirp from my laptop. -the range from which i can access my router triples easily.. So also reception got a huge boost, my router is still 100mw -Windows 7 has drivers, cd not needed..BUT.. there is a nice utility on the small cd to find your accesspoint (and many others, all this in in real english, not the usual expected bad translation -Maybe illegal in your country (as is here) but as an electronics expert, i know, the chance of getting caught for creating interference is very very close to zero... (Microwave ovens create 1000x more interference in the same band) Last but not least: Happy wardriving

Cons: -Had to pay some customs duty, but this was expected. -Does what is says, so no real cons..

    Other: Don't think, just buy
