Pros: The case is steel, with glass, and feels strong. Front with glass is screwed on top of the case, en contains a watertight O-ring. Cable hole is properly glued on the inside.
The webcam where I bought this thing for, is very sensitive for 850nm light, so I can illuminate my subjects. The case contains a hole for a standard camera mount. Soldering inside looks ok.
Cons: I tried with several camera's. All camera's see the IR light, but not very good. My sony DCR-SR55 see only a little of the light. Not enough to illuminate something. My Canon Powershot A80 can hardly see the light.
But: the ovislink WL5400CAM is working well with it.
Other: Overall, this flashlight is great value for money, but you should really check if your camera can see the 850nm light.

Pros: This is a cheap and bright IR illuminator. There are a lot of LEDs packed in there. It would take a lot of time to build one by hand.
Cons: I ordered two, and one came with a cracked lens. I don't know if it still works because I don't have a power supply here.
Other: They do not package these well. That said, IR illuminators are kind of a niche product, and it's hard to find them so economical.

Pros: Great price. Simple to hook up. Outputs lots of light (depending on camera). Build quality is solid.
Cons: Wish it came with the power adapter.
It would be nice to get a bit more flood and a bit less spot in the output.
Other: Works with all cameras but different ones have different results.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Has a real variable output with the light sensor, no jumping ON or OFF only.
Spot is nice and bright.
Housing is really heavy and has a nice quality feeling.
Cons: Spot is too bright for anything close up, and too tight for anything far away, would only be good for lighting bad corners.
The mounting bracket makes it a bit awkward to point where you want without some prior thought.
Other: This will work a lot better if you can consider modding it to give the LEDs a more wide spread shot. Unless of course you want a bright spot, then its perfect.

Pros: While this works it has a LOT of output! It has a very narrow beam, at about 12 feet the spot was approximately 4 feet in diameter. This would be good for illuminating a driveway from a distance. This has rubber O-rings around the bezel and glass to help keep water out if you have it outside.
Cons: This lasted less than 2 weeks before it failed. Now only 6 out of 48 LED's work. I took it apart and checked voltages, some LED's have 10 volts across them! I'm not sure if it was resistors that failed or what. I was driving my unit at 11V because I did not have a 12V power supply. That should give LONGER life, not less.
Other: Buy it if it isn't critical because it may not last long. If it does last you will be pleased.

Pros: - Great Price! - Works extremely well - Super bright 49 LED InfraRed Spotlight - Works great with DX cameras for nightvision.
Cons: - Spotlight, not flood - None!
Other: Buy it if you need a cheap nightvision light, but make sure your camera is compatable with the spectrum. Lots of reviews saying they can't see the light!

Pros: --> Price. I looked for some IR reflectors at a local store with security equipment and similar devices are there like 10 and more times more expensive! -->Very bright - it can easily light up entire room even with my hand semi-covered. -->Good build quality - the glass is really glass (at least it looks like) - so it won't degrade over time -->Standard power connector and standard voltage (12V) -->Works only when it is dark - it has photosensor.
Cons: --> I'm bit worried about lifetime, only time will tell... -->Gets little warm during use but no problem.
Other: Good powerful IR light. Recommended! You have to have camera WITHOUT IR filter!!!! Otherwise you see only that is it on but you can't light up even a objects 50cm away!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Works perfectly
inexpensive great security.
has outlasted other devices
autoshutoff during daylight
easy to setup, just plug in
build quality is above normal to almost perfect.
Cons: No cons, all pros if anything it could be a little bigger and a little larger spotlight
Other: I've been using this for about 8 months now... IT works perfect and has been the best buy I have made from Deal Extreme....
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Not a bad price for a self contained unit. Built in automatic controls work great. Adds a lot of IR light for camera's sensitive to this wavelength of light. Very heavy duty and feels well built. Not sure if it is very weatherproof though... I only used indoors. Looks like it would be easy to seal with silicone if you needed to.
Cons: Ok, I have several cameras installed around the house. Some have built in IR and they work great. This works great with those cameras, but now with my camera I bought it for (a TrendNet IP camera). For some reason those cameras don't pick up the wavelength of these lights.
Other: Well built and very useful if you need it and you camera responds to this frequency of light.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Cheap, Bright, Robust and good terminations. I bought 3, and all of them works perfect since a little bit more than month A see a similar one in a local store, the cost was about 6 times
Cons: Dont see any cons for the use that i give it. Maybe the lack of power supply. But here sell a perfect one
Other: Excellent price/quality relation. Buy It, you wont regret it! But make sure your camera is compatable with the spectrum.
