JY-MCU 16X Digital Tube Red LED Module

Pros: This device is simple to use and uses very few IO pins on either your MCU or arduino. The response is fast and the brightness is good. This thing is awesome for any kind of time or increment display. Myself I use it to serve as a display on a deburring machine and it works flawlessly and the characters are visible in most light conditions. With a combination of low price, ease of use and functionality, this thing is awesome for what it is.

Cons: There aren't many cons to consider on this device except perhaps the fact that it isn't 14 segment (vs 8 segment). other than that this thing is good

Other: Great value for many applications

Pros: - Cheap - Comes fully assembled - Cables included - Adjustable brightness via library - Good quality

Cons: - Only 7 segments, suitable for numbers only - No documentation - No spacers/screws included for mounting (but suitable holes in the PCB are provided)

Other: Highly recommended! Everything about this display seems to be as it should. I got two, and after getting them to work immediately ordered two more, and some 1638s as well.

Pros: - Easy protocol once you get the hang of it - Reasonably low power usage - Bright, on the highest setting this really glows alot

Cons: - The documentation is sparse - You're basicly stuck with a 4 page manual poorly translated to english and one sample project on google code for arduino. - Mine came slightly bend in the mail, but it's working. You might not be so lucky.

Other: If you like tinkering with hardware and you're not affried to implement your own driver buy it. I'm gonna stick mine on desk and have it show Temperature, wind direction and wind speed downloaded from the web.

Pros: Really easy to use. PCB quality is really good. Great brightness. Brightness can be adjusted. Really easy to interface. Existing libraries can be pulled from the web. It even have a timing diagram of the clock and data printed on the back. Just clock in 8 bits per display unit.

Cons: None, really.

Other: If you need this don't worry. Good product.

Pros: Excellent product, the Arduino library tm1638-library makes life totally simple. Kudos to the author of that library: https://code.google.com/p/tm1638-library/

Cons: You can not dasy-chain multiple boards. Oh well.. life

Other: Check out tm1638-library from the link above; the author did a great job! Check out the Google project -- A library for connecting a TM1638/TM1640 to arduino at https://code.google.com/p/tm1638-library/ it makes this board totally usable on the Arduino platform with the least of effort in terms of writing to the board via SPI. Great work to Ricardo Batista! I love your library.
