  • Apparantly not for Micro SD

Pros: I do not have any TF cards, so I am not able to offer any "pro's" for this device, which I purchased for it's claimed ability to read microSD and microSDHC cards.

Cons: It DOES not read MicroSD's, well- actually they dont fit into the port. It does "add a device" and a drive letter. Even with modification to "force" the microSD card into the adapter, it still does not read the memory card (yeah, I used very cheap one for that test!)

Other: If TF is what you need, its probably the coolest thing you will have (if it in fact does work on TF.) But it is CERTAINLY not a MICRO SD ADAPTER as advertised, and even with mechanical modifications to allow the card to enter the slot- it still does not read it. (modded reader is not returnable now of course!)

  • My Bad ! Works Fine...

posted by switchdoctor on 11:07:43 G6T 05/06/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: On a previous review I mentioned this item's little slot did NOT accept MicroSD (and it does not). However you are supposed to stick the micro SD in the END of the USB side, not in the slot (which is apparantly TF). So it is tiny indeed, and it works.

Cons: VERY confusing when dealing with MicroSD cards. The good thing is you can bust off the plastic slot end, and make it even smaller so it fits inside your PC slot cover (Toughbook) for storage.

Other: It is one of the most expensive of this type of reader available from DX, and I expected better information at least. Overall I see no real advantage of this unit over some of the others. Most others are usb2.0 also. But this review is better and more accurate than the last one I did before I figured it out. (premature evaluation = no pun intended again...)

  • Very small, good build quality - but no lanyard

Pros: - Even smaller than the famous sku.06108.
    - Good build quality
    - Looks sturdy.
    - Better looks.

Cons: - No lanyard included (I use the one from my old sku.06108).
    - Protection housing might get lost being not attached to the rest of the card read.

Other: At the moment the protection housing fits snuggly and does not seem to get loose too easily. But only time will tell if you can/will loose ist.
I like this tiny reader as my every-day-usb-memorystick and it is a good alternative to sku.06108 which survived 8 months on my keychain and still works, but its casing lost some "pieces" in the meanwhile. So I thought it would be time for something new. :-)

  • TINY if you need TINY

Pros: This thing reads microSDHC so far up to 8gb (all I had when tested). It reads only MicroSD format (I think that is also called TRANSFLASH, which sounds like a tranny-flash gone bad.) It is very small and if that is what you need this is your bag, if you can find it in your bag. IT DOES fit INSIDE a "Stash-Card" PCMCIA Card (you have to bust off the plastic gripper to make it thin enough to fit, but it still works that way just fine.)
Ejecting the card requires pushing it out by poking a finger at the "plastic" end of the device, sending the card out the "plug" end so you can nab it with a pinch-grip. If you got really large fingers, gloves, calluses, or arthritis you can forget it being easy.
The unit does have a bright blue LED on it too, for those of you who need to SEE your data flow.

Cons: The plastic thingy that I busted off to make it fit in the StashCard is not very HQ anyway. (But not needed!) And there are no real instructions telling you two very important facts:
    1. Transflash (A term not heard where I live) is the SAME thing as MicroSD...
    2. It requires slipping the memory stick in from the END of the usb plug, a bit confusing until you figure it out. IT DOES NOT go in the end that is plastic, but into the PLUG END! (VERY ODD!)

Other: This is the preferred reader for my applications as I keep it inside the "Stash-Card" inside my PC, and when plugged-in, it is so short it is flush with the PC.

  • Nearly Flush USB Reader

posted by nitant on 01:52:10 G6T 25/06/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This is the SMALLEST USB MicroSD/Transflash drive I have EVER seen/used.
It works brilliantly and I have tested it with upto 8GB Cards. My Sandisk gives me Write speeds of upto 13 MBPS and Read speeds of upto 20MBPS, using this card reader.
Also this card reader has a nice blue light that looks really great.

    Cons: No lanyard cable

Other: It is really a great reader with FAST R/W speeds and a really small design. The protective cover is really a nice touch. Inserting the MicroSD card is a bit counter-intuitive, so check the box before breaking your card/drive.

  • Fast and small. Perfect!

Pros: Very nice price, very nice preformance, very nice build quality. I used this device to give my microPC a quick readyboost bump and it worked out great. Transfer speeds are plenty. This reader will eat SDHC quite willingly. The included cover cap fits quite snugly and the loop hole looks solid enough to trust.

Cons: Gets a little hot. Not disturbingly hot, but on some machines it could cause an issue by overheating nearby components.

Other: Do something usefull with the 2gb microSD cards you have floating around in your drawer! This is a perfect readyboost tool for slow computers.

  • Fantastic Device - Small & Robust - But....

posted by XGEOX on 03:03:26 G9T 22/09/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Amazingly Small Device - Great Design - Extremely Solid & Robust

Cons: - Protective Cap Much Larger Than Necessary - No Loop/Lanyard Provided - Problems With My Macbook (See Below)

Other: Fantastic devices, but I've had at least one die on me (from use with my Macbook). They do get warm in every computer I've tried, but only in the Macbook do they get severely hot. At this price, I'd say just get a load of them and replace as necessary. I personally think that the tiny form factor and otherwise excellent build quality makes them worth it.

  • Pretty nice MicroSD USB adapter

posted by malmequer on 07:03:39 G10T 04/10/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: * Very Small * Tucks Away nicely on a USB port (can be used as a permanent storage placeholder or for added storage or for ready boost on win vista+7) * Brings a small cap just in case * Nice Packaging * Much more expensive if you want to buy a all-in-on mini usb device for storage

Cons: * It accepts the microsd pretty nicely, but the spring can pop it out on accident, so if you are considering permanent storage, maybe a bit of ducktape can help

Other: Pretty good MicroSD USB adapter, especially if you are using it as myself to expand the hard drive capability of a flash netbook, it tucks away very nicely and stays there, so overall i recommend it.

Pros: Overall great reader, does what it says and is small and looks great! The blue led is a plus!

Cons: Be careful to put the MicroSD card in the bottom end of the USB (different to normal!). It wasn't a problem for me because I already read about it on here, but if you don't know you could break something by forcing it in the other way.

Other: Best small MicroSD card reader, and it really is the smallest unlike some others on here. Get it now!

Pros: This one is realy small, you will almost lose it in your computer. It's not the cheapest but the price is fair, it has a nice built quality. It works well with MicroSDHC. It has fast read and write. I tested it with 4Gb and 8Gb Sandisk's and Kingstone's Transflashes. It's the better look Trasflash card reader i saw here. Kawau is kawaii.

Cons: It works in every computer i tested, but i bought this to use in my car's stereo and it didn't work. And particularly, i didn't like the blue led.

Other: A little expensive than the others card readers, but i think it worth it every cent!!
