What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. Pros: Received device was as is in the photos(same colors and so on). Heat sink is really helpful(because I am driving two DC motors at 5V and motors has more than 2amp stall current ), so no problem at all. After intensive usage heat sink becomes warm/hot. Device has five red leds: one for power and others for IN1 IN2 IN3 IN4 high signals indication.
Cons: Bad that I could not find any documentation. Problem is with yellow "in" connections line. I have just guessed and used only IN1 IN2 = motor1, IN3 IN4 motor 2. And everything worked fine. Not sure why there is GND and +5V. I have skipped EN pins (No low or high signal, this is quite strange)
Other: This is lower price for sure. Thinking about second :)
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Works as expected. Extras: - Has a internal voltage regulator (7805) to provide 5v to circuit. You can enable or disable this voltage regulator with a jumper (5V_EN). - Very well done. - 1 led to indicate on/off state; - 4 leds to indicate motor direction (2 for each motor) - 2 jumpers (CSA, CSB) to current sensing for each motor; - 4 jumpers to fix direction of motor. (UR1~UR4)
Cons: - No manual. - No schematic diagram.
Other: Very good product for DIY projects.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: An inexpensive and useful solution to drive motors without the con of making your own driver module.
Cons: Hard to find any info about this online, you have to read the datasheet of the driver and figure it out how it works.
Other: If you want a cheap driver to play around and not get angry trying to make your own then buy this, its a must have ;-).
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very inexpensive for what you get. Drives DC motors and Bi-polar stepper motors (4 wire).
Cons: No documentation. None. Install the 5V jumper while 5V connected to Arduino and your Arduino is fried. Mine fried. Slotted screw terminal screws don't look very high quality.
Other: I have already ordered more of this product and feel confident in the product now that I have reverse engineered the circuit and understand it. I recommend this product.

Pros: This is a very nice little L298 carrier board. It has (very bright) red status LEDs for the 4 inputs, as well as jumper-enable-able pull-up resistors on the inputs.
Cons: The 78M05 onboard regulator overheats when you have high PWM frequencies, and supply voltages over ~20V. This can lead to very confusing intermittent failures. Fortunately, there is also a jumper to disconnect the onboard regulator, and you can supply an external 5V.
Other: It's a very nice board for experimenting with an L298, or for use as a small motor controller.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -Nice looking, good quality -Inexpensive -Supports dc and stepper motors -Ease of use -Compatible with Arduino -Good and enough heatsink is included.
Cons: -Package was not though (Very small part of the PCB is broken when I got it, but it is really not important)
Other: Very useful product for the ones who needs motor driver.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: At this price, why build your own? The board is populate with the L298N H-bridge chip affixed to an adequate heat sink. Inputs are presented on a header strip. Motor and power connections are presented on screw terminals. H-Bridge outputs are diode shunted to prevent transients and there is an on-board 5v regulator.
Cons: Absolutely no documentation. It is easy enough to mess with a figure it out, I mean it's a L298N board, the old stand by... but It would be FAR better if documentation accompanied to part.
Other: It's hard to beat a $5.80 L298 H-Bridge module.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Cheap. Works. Good build quality. The jumper for enabling onboard 5V generation is nice. Leds on the inputs are very useful for debugging.
Cons: No manual. Can't see the reason for pull-up resistors on the inputs(see other thoughts). For security reasons I would put pullDOWN resistors, if any. Plastic parts of the screw terminals are somewhat loose on my board (I bought only one), but that does not caused any problem. Got the same problem with supplies over 20V as FakeName describes
Other: Thumbs up.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Lots of functions. I've used it as a bridged DC motor driver. It works nicely for that. The build quality is good. The red LEDs indicate the activity pretty well. They are pretty bright.
Cons: No documentation for the different pins and terminals, but it's possible to find that on the net. It could be smaller.
Other: Nice board if you want to control a stepper or 1-2 DC motors from an Arduino.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Well built overall, provides a great simple way to control stepper or dc motors. The leds are nice and bright and gives it a nice visual indicators where you see what exactly is going on
Cons: No data sheet or documents come with the board so you must do a little research to figure everything out, especially if you are not familiar with h-bridges like myself . The screw terminals are a little loose but not a big deal.
Other: At this price it can't get any better! if you are looking for a great h-bridge to control couple motors this is a sure bet
