Large Compass with Surface Mount

Pros: Nice appearance.

Cons: Almost humorous, this compass reads backwards when viewed in the intended application, an auto. If it were a hand-held, one would typically look down on it from the top and see N pointing North. But in an auto, it is normally affixed on the windshield and the viewer sees the edge from the backside. So when driving North, one sees S. It is possible that my unit had the magnet installed backwards. This is supported by the fact that outside of the car, actually NE points North, displaying SW from the driver's view. Also, this compass does not have compensators, little screw adjustments to cancel the car's magnetic field from the iron body. So when driving North, if one knew it reads backwards he would expect to read S. But without the compensator, mine actually reads W. I have less confusion looking at shadows from the telephone poles.

Other: DX should pull this product because almost no customers will be satisfied.
