Pros: perfectly fits the canon 50mm 1.8, does its purpose as a lens hood eliminating glares when shooting in sunny days, plus protects the lens from bumps.
Cons: cant mount the hood in reverse when storing the lens, and lens cap can fall off because there is no thread on the hood. would be perfect lens hood for the price onyl if they had the thread to secure the lens cap.
Other: still a good buy

Pros: Perfect fit, good materials, some protection on the front element and my lens cap stay on, no problem.
Cons: They're aren't any. At all. This is absolutely perfect.
Other: Yep, all five's. Why? Becuase this is a perfect low cost alternative to the other brand. This is one of those things that you think you need and when you get it, you know you did. If you own the 50mm 1.8, get this, now. Sure, you can't store it on lens, but that is the design of the lens, not the hood.

Pros: It is really cheaper than Canon brand original (and I really can't understand why Canon don't ship their lenses with hood - Canon, it is just a piece of plastic damage!). It fits very well to Canon EF 50mm F1.8 lens do its job.
Cons: My first concern was about lens cap. It fit the hole in front of camera (I've uploaded a pictuce) but has no fixation and can drop anytime (I don't want to loose the original Canon cap so I will buy another to use with hood).
But the worst is to discover that inside hood there is no screw available to attach filters. Of course you can attach a haze or UV filter and attach lens to it (since all filter I know has outside screw for combine filter) but if you use polarizer filter (that turns to find best set) you will end turn the hood I don't know if this is good since this lens is not USM and accidentally turn the focus ring with AF engaged. Because the lack of screw to attach filter and grip the cap I set the Usefulness Rating to 3. Refers to this other hood: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14626 a little more expensive I know, but with internal screw (at least in the picture). If you use polarizer I would recommend you take the risk and pay more for this other filter (just in case).
Other: The pictures associated with this product is not really from it. Please, refer to users picture to a better illustration.

Pros: Same size as the Canon ES-62 (with the hood adapter 62). One piece unlike the Canon version which is the hood and an adapter to mount the hood to the Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II. Works exactly like the Canon version. Cheaper then the Canon version by about $20 or so.
Cons: As previously mentioned due to the design if you want to use any filters with the hood you need to have the filter on the lens first, then screw the hood onto the lens. You also have to be careful if you put the lens cap on the hood itself, the fit is a little lose and a good jostle of the camera can cause the cap to fall off.
Other: Overall for the price I would recommend this hood to all my friends. If the one I have now were to break I would definitely purchase another as a replacement before i purchase the Canon ES-62.

Pros: It's a lens hood that works on a Canon 50mm lens.
Cons: It's not as high of quality as a the OEM Canon hood, and the price seems very steep for what it is.
It screws on to the lens, and does not allow for a filter to be attached, though you can screw it into a filter.
Other: Compared to a normal hood on a lens that is designed for hoods, this was a bit disappointing. It cumbersome to attach and use when you are on the go, but if you need a hood for your 50mm this will do the trick. Pros: fits perfect on 50mm 1.8 canon lens
cheaper than the original canon lens hood
great build, it's look like the original lens hood
good price
Cons: i didn't find bigs cons, it's cheap, it's fit. the only thing that can be consider as cons is the fact that you have to put the filter first and then the hood
Other: i would recomend this lens hood to my friends

Pros: Get this lens hood if you were looking at the Canon alternative. For the price it is well worth the price of admission.
Fits the 50mm lens threading perfectly.
Cons: Some marring (like scratches) inside the lens hood, possibly due to handling or packaging of the item. But doesn't affect its intended use.
Other: If you were thinking of the original Canon lens hood, this is a no brainee purchase. Unless you are one who only buys authentic accessories, this item is a great alternative.

Pros: Solid and quality product that made from hard dull plastic. Looks like brand original product from canon. Easy to use and hold.
Cons: It is not good idea to mount lens hood to filter's carving. Before mounting, you must set you focusing swith to manual mode, even you can damage your lens mechanism. You must be very carefull when mount or unmount this hood to/from lens
Other: I think every begginer in photos should buy it, because it cheap and quite good

Pros: in general terms, is a very good product. resistant. durable. works great for cameras with APS-C and FULL-FRAME. generates no vignetting. generates a very good appearance with the 50mm f/1.8, it does look bigger and professional. if I had the need, buy the same product again (but no longer here, because ...)
Cons: is more expensive than other sites. is fragile, but it is not. really does more good than bad.
Other: Good, but no cheap
