What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. Pros: Provides much needes shade for a lens when the manufacturer is too cheap to include a simple piece of plastic for the purpose.
Cons: Doesn't quite lock (snap) into place. Held by friction. Luckily it is round so exact orientation is not critical.
Inside surface is not ridged for extra reflection protection.
Other: At 90% of the functionality and a third of the price compared to a genuine article this was a no-brainer.

Pros: Very good build quality, fits perfectly on my Canon 55-250 EF-S. Plastic is not glossy but made in a nice rough surface that, in my opinion, adds a nice grip to the hood (useful in mounting and good-looking)
Cons: None so far.
Other: Buy it, definitely. It's worth the money and it's also nice.

Pros: This is a pretty cheap piece and very well build, plastic quality is very very fine. This owns nothing to the original canon model. Fits just perfect and with no gaps.
Cons: None at all! Where I live an original Canon model costs average USD 45. Check out Deal Extreme´s price, it´s a real bargain, almost for free.
Other: Just buy it, sure you won´t regret. Deal Extreme addicted!

Pros: Provides much needes shade for a lens when the manufacturer is too cheap to include a simple piece of plastic for the purpose.
Cons: Mine came with a broken piece, because the plastic is bad quality. Doesn't quite lock (snap) into place. Held by friction. Luckily it is round so exact orientation is not critical. Inside surface is not ridged for extra reflection protection.
Other: At 90% of the functionality and a third of the price compared to a genuine article this was a no-brainer.

Pros: -Looks well build
-The finishing is very good
-You can't tell it's not original
- Inside is matte
Cons: -No little red dot for alignment
Other: Can't tell really, but it looks solid. You should buy it if you need it. Look at me for instance, I ordered it even though I didn't need it :)

Pros: - Very cheap! Usually ET-60 lens hood for Canon cost like 40 dollars but DealExtreme makes exception. Only for couple of bucks! - Solid build - Nice and quality outfit - Easy to use - compatible with other lens - Nice black color
Cons: Nothing to complain. Great product! You can see that this product is perfect!
Other: Overall it's excellent product! I recommend it!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - It fits good on the lens.
- It's firm in its place, won't fall off
- Keeps some flares away
- Makes the lens seem bigger
- It helps to protect the lens from harm
Cons: - Hard to put on when you have a filter on the lens.
You need to force it a little bit, but when it's on it stays on.
Other: You can't go wrong with this lens hood. It keeps some flares away in the bright light and it also helps to protect the lens from accidental touch and scratches.
All in all, I recommend it!

Pros: sturdy, feels good, inner and outer matte finish, can reverse and attach for easy storage, looks like original canon product but does not have the "Canon" label as seen in the photos. is slightly flexible but thick enough to feel high quality
Cons: the threads do not fit the 55-250mm IS telephoto - they are too tight. You need to file them down so that they are thinner so that it can actually slide on and off the end of the lens. Take care to file it down enough that it can slide off without moving the focus ring (even if you switch it to MF and its not ruining the AF motor, I would much prefer that it fit better and did not move this part of the lens!)
Other: much cheaper than the original canon product, but the threads issue was annoying. it was fixable with a little effort. recommended to purchase only if you shoot into sunlight alot and really really need the hood to reduce lens flares, otherwise not worth the effort for a "cheap accessory"

Pros: ---fits like a glove
---works great to keep out glare and flaring on my telephoto lens
---is way cheaper than the original canon one and does the exact same thing
---the bayonet mount is awesome, easily reversed for storage, i havent taken mine off the lens since i got it
Cons: ---makes the lens a bit bigger
---was a little tight to go on at first
Other: ---if you have the lens, you gotta have the hood and you definitely cant beat the price
