Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Cheap but doesnt look cheap, feels well made and fits tight on the 17-85 IS USM.
Cons: Well..if there is one thing it must be the tiny little drop of spilled silver paint on the edge (where it doesnt belong).
Other: If you got a 17-85 IS USM and are looking to buy the lenshood from Canon be sure to try this one first.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: If you own a Canon EF-S 17-85 lens then this is the hood that fits it. Pictures will not be washed out due to stray light, be that sunlight or lights in a room. Pictures will have greater contrast. Lens hood is reversible so it will fit into your camera bag with no problem.
Cons: When in place it does feel a bit loose. The inside surface of the hood could be a better matte. In other words not as shiny.
Other: For the price you can't beat it.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: A great copy of the original piece.
Fits perfectly on my 18-55.
Build quality is good enough for a piece of plastic.
Cons: The matte area on the inside is not as good as the original, but does it really make a difference?
Doesn't fit as snugly as an original, but does not affect usage.
Other: 1/3 the price of an original and does the job. Can't beat it. DX FTW.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -Very good, fits snugly
-Can be mounted reverse on the lens
- The inside is matte
- It feels sturdy enough
- You can't tell it's off brand
- Finishing is very good
Cons: -It says "For Canon" not "Canon" but it figures
-It doesn't have the little red dot for aligning
Other: There's no reason to pay big bucks for a piece of plastic.
Buy this one.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -Very well suited for my Canon 18-135 lens.
-Good Quality.
-Almost like the original, but is 5 times cheaper.
-Can be mounted reverse on the lens to save space.
-Inside matte.
-Fully perform their functions.
Cons: -Inside, no velvet as the original, but it does not prevent to perform its functions.
-No red marks, for alignment with the mark on the lens, but it does not interfere.
Other: Useful thing for your lens Canon 18-135.
Good price.
Decent quality.
If you have a Canon 18-135 lens, make sure you buy for him this blend.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's priced at a fraction of the real thing from Canon, and still does the same job.
Made of hard plastic and seems to be durable but will obviously crack if enough pressure applied.
Matte black finish looks great.
Cons: There really isn't anything bad about it. But i did notice some rough edges around the area that attaches to the lens. If not careful, you may possible scratch your lens.
Other: Works great, at a fraction of the cost of the real thing.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Looks like the original, and has the same size - hence it blocks unwanted sunlight from entering the lens. Easy mount on my 17-85 IS also with UV-filter and lens hood.
Cons: I don't know if the original is meant to, but this one cannot be reverse mounted, so if you suddenly want to remove it, you'll have to put it somewhere else.
No velvet on the inside - some light may be reflected on the smooth surface, compared to the original
Other: Extremely cheap, fits on my lens, does the job and looks good

Pros: Lens Hood for Canon EW-73B - This Product is a perfect fit for my Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens and Canon Zoomlens - 28 mm - 135 mm - F/3.5-5.6 - Canon EF. - It's made out of hard plastic. - Cheap. Best Price for a good replica, you won't find it any cheaper with this build quality.
Cons: - No Cons so far.
Other: For this Price you will not get a better replica. i use this product on a daily base as a profesional photo/video- grapher and i'm more than happy with my purchase.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Looks like the original Canon hood
Fits the Canon 18-135 lens (although slightly tight).
It even has the "for Canon EW-73B" printed on it
Well built considering the price.
Can still attach/detach lens cover
Can still operate circular polorising filters.
Cons: Has a slightly tight fit on my canon 18-135 lens but not hampering in any way (minor con).
Slightly tricky operating a circular polorising filter with the hood attached but still possible. I'm not sure if the original hood is any better in this regard. (so also a minor con).
Dosnt look like it can fit on backwards for storage.
Other: Great buy for the price! at a fraction of the price of the Canon hood. It makes your lens look a little more pro... Oh and it also blocks out unwanted glare.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It looks exactly like the original Canon EW 73B.
It blocks sun light from entering the lens.
It protects your lens from branches from trees and other harmfull things.
It costs only one seventh of the proce of the original Canon EW 73B lens hood.
It can also be mounted on the reverse so that you can put your camera with your lense hood in your bag.
Cons: The lens hood has some hard protrusions which can scratch the plastic on your lens. This does not damage your glass of your lens.
You can polish the lens hood at the inside so that it does not damage the outside of your lens.
Other: It is extremely cheap and blocks sunlight. Your photos immeadiately become better.
