  • Fake capacity and speed!

    Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: Small, and the build quality is decent. The metal case is nice.

    Cons: The device has a fake capacity! The real capacity appears to be 2GB. (Files up to 2GB in size copy over fine; after that they get corrupted. I verified this by taking MD5 hashes before and after copying files to the drive.)

    In addition, the transfer speed is extremely slow -- another hallmark of fake USB drives. This problem appears endemic with cheap flash drives -- but this one wasn't even that cheap!

    Other: Not worth the money! Spend a few dollars more and get a reputed brand. It shouldn't be this much hassle to get a proper flash drive!
