What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Pros: Cheap as chips Very small Good soldering quality Meets the stated specifications with ease with the exception of current Very low noise, measured 20mV at 5V 200mA load Complete and working module, no additional work required.
Cons: The stated max output current of 3A is theoretical, the LM2596 CAN output 3 amps but at that point you would fry the module because of insufficient heatsinking. For loads up to 500mA no heatsinking should be required, but you should test this before you use it in a project. No current limiting.
Other: I'm ordering another 5 or so in the near future for battery powered projects, excellent module for hobbyists and makers.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Small compact design, good filtration, good assembly of electronic parts. DC/DC IC is LM2596
Cons: No input protection diode - when power is bad connected you can damage the circuit
Other: If you need to reduce the voltage of the circuit board that is right for you. Building such a system alone in single quantities is not cost-effective.

Pros: Easy to use, high quality, versatile input and controlled output. I have used it to make a universal battery- usb power supply. I can use any kind of battery as input.
Cons: There is no wrong voltage protection on the input, I got it wrong and the chip heated up pretty quick, but I caught on in time. It worked perfectly when I re-connected it.
Other: This is a great product, it does what it promises, and does it well. The price is very reasonable, I'll definitely be ordering more of these in the future. No regrets

Pros: This unit comes in very handy, makes every voltage when it gets 4-40VDC. Is capable for stepup AND stepdown function, it can also make (much) higer voltages as low than it gets. Only the cuuurnt may not be higer as 3 amps for in or output. So is you want to make 30Volts out of 10, the max current it can deliver is 1/2 Amp.
Cons: No polarity protection, it goes smell nasty and it is defect immediately. I was so stupid to make that failure. Otherwies I was clever enough to buy some more because of bulkrate and I like to work with leds, for this application these units are very usefull. But that is no con... This unit is in no way an insulator between the original source and the unit you want to power with it. So be carefull with voltages above 48VDC above earth
Other: Small enough to store is everywhere. did not give trouble with HF in my experiments, can be used very well with the old Transformer adapters between 5VDC an 40VDC, 3 ams is enough for most projects....

Pros: works great work immediately Apply power to the battery 12 volt trimmer set the desired output voltage. Works immediately anything extra is not necessary. Putting the output voltage to 5 volts can be using this converter to charge any portable device such as mobile phone, mp3 player and more.
Cons: not found
Other: Good buy for little money. Good DC-DC Voltage Stabilizer IMC LM2596S Stabilizer
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very cheap device, currently the cheapest voltage regulator on DX, AFAIK. Very small so you can fit it almost anywhere. Very energy efficient, draws almost no power when the output is unconnected. Easy to set the exact output voltage (comes preset to about 12 V).
Cons: I can't think of any so far.
Other: Will be buying more of them in the future.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: A very small regulator wich transforms almost any DC (between 4-40V )in an accurate outputvoltage (DC) without producing heat, so the loss must be very low. As an interface between systems in a complex situation, it can give that function , no other component known by me (for the same price) can. Step-up, step down , no problem, exspecially in solarsystems the battery gets its 13.6, 14.4 or 28.8VDC out of a solarcell wich can has a voltagerange of5-25VDC. The most interesting is that the batteries get the right voltage, so less loss by over voltage, or under voltage, the energy te solarunit provides, comes there where you want it, in the battery. But also for other projects (led ,laser, sound etc.) it ie easy to provide the unit with the right voltage
Cons: The PC itshelve can't handle current above 3A, so when you want a higher voltage out of a lower voltage source, that reduces the max current. So 5V 3A makes the outputcurrent less than1/2 Amp 30V out. For me however the unit provides in my needs. DO NOT switch + and --, the PC has NO polarityprotection!!
Other: DX did it again. This is one of the nicest PC's DX sells. A currentlimiter on board would be fine....

Pros: Ridiculously cheap compared to what you'd have to pay for the individual components + PCB to hold it.
Cons: The output voltage fluctuates depending on the load, so it's not for applications where a stable voltage source is mission critical. Also lacking extra protection on the input and output lines. Polyfuses aren't THAT expensive, and they also don't take up much space, so I just don't understand why they're on included on the board from the factory.
Other: As long as you don't need a really damn stable power source it does the job for cheap. Usable as a breadboard power supply, but just keep an eye on the voltage level with a multimeter

Pros: Small, cheap, has good power.
Cons: Bad soldering - one of the elcos fell apart as I took this thing out of the bag which was in the box (so it couldn't be my bad for breaking it off) so I've had to resolder it and then I saw that the other elcos were also badly soldered so I had to resolder everything, just in case.
Other: If you get one, be sure to jiggle a bit every component and prepare a sharp-point soldering iron to correct soldering flaws if needed.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Usefull circuit for cheap price efficient STEP DOWN ONLY circuit based on lm2596 it works as expected
Cons: potentiometer came deseoldered and basically fell off when i got it out of the package I understand electronics, and know how to solder, so i fixed id pretty fast also pot behaved wierdly at the start, but now seems to be fine
Other: Usefull cheap circuit, that couldev'n been made better
