Pros: Great light with a definite improvement of lumen output over a 900 lumen model I have - SKU 30864. Same great build quality we know and love from Magicshine. New battery is a definite improvement.
I ride at night down twisty descents at over 90km/h and there is more than enough light to have full confidence.
Cons: Not much to say, could be a little cheaper I guess but not bad value for money.
Time will tell if there are any complaints about this model.
Other: Great build quality, small, awesome light output and rugged.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Great build quality - Really great output - It gets hot on the outside really quickly, which is a good thing because it means the heat dissipation is working - Nice beam (thanks to OP-reflector) - The main switch changes it's color, depending on the battery status.
Cons: - UI could have been simpler for my taste. Nobody needs a flashing mode. Short press for switching between high/mid and a longer press for off would have been perfect in my eyes.
Other: Get it if you need a lot of light for biking, skating, etc. You won't get a better or brighter light at this price.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - nice and bright
- good light coverage of the road ahead
- 3 useful modes
- battery indicator on the light itself
- good heat dissipation when riding
Cons: - battery life could be better
Other: Get one and you won't be disappointed. A very good light overall. Plus, chances are that you'll have the brightest bike light around.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Top-Notch Build Quality
- Good Battery Life (If You Using Low Mode)
- Daylight At Night
- Battery Indicator (Green - 100%-75%, Blue - 75%-50%, Yellow - 50%-30%, Red - 30%-5%, Blinking Red - Under 5%)
- Well Insulated Battery
Cons: - Striking Flare On The Center Of The Beam
- Battery Life For High Mode
- Too Short Battery Cable (To Mount On The Frame)
- The Battery Indicator Does Not Turn Off Unless You Pull The Cord Apart
Other: If You Buy This Lamp, You Will Not Be Disappointed. The Weak Point Of These Lights Is The Battery, But In This Case Is May Be Replaced.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: With the updated Cree XM-L emitter and the updated rubber case for the battery pack. This light system is now stomping on all the competition.
Cons: Mounting can be an issue. I found that the supplied oring type mounting was not good enough. For riding here (Vancouver, B.C.) I must have a very low profile mount. A mount that keeps the light as close to the helmet as possible, while allowing air flow. I removed the oring holder from both lights that are screwed into the body and made myself a custom mount that is better suited to my needs. Two of these mounted together on the crown of the helmet, that can now be moved to any of my helmets. The velcro strap system I have used for years works great.
Other: If you like to pin it on Cypress in the dark or like banging any kind of laps in the dark. I recommend these lights. I have been waiting for over a year to buy these lights. As soon as the new 808E came out I placed the order.
Once I have put these through a few months of use I will post up a follow up review. Anyone into night laps on Upper Oil Can? I has been years since I have done that. Time to take it back and ride that trail again.

Pros: - good price for the product but always could be cheaper :) - pretty good quality of the cables, battery pack or alluminium casing of the light - nice carrying puch for the battery pack - possibility of using additional 100cm long cables to use as an extender - light beam is very strong and wide, two bicycle riders can travel in the dark with only one light - easy to mount with orings - available additional accessories like helmet mount etc
Cons: - quality of workmanship inside the light, there was a bit of dust inside, the diode was dirty, it had some dark spot I had to clean it ... - the isolation of cables inside wasnt cut prefectly I had to fix it, If I wouldnt do that the parts of isolation would hide the diode. Thats the biggest con of all. Maybe I just had bad luck ...
Other: I think thats the best bike light money can buy for this price range.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Light is VERY bright, no more problems riding at night. One less problem to worry.
Cons: The batery straps can become a little loose, make sure you place it securely. The batery cable is short, if you are willing to place the batery in a saddle bag or pannier. You should buy the extension cable.
Other: Light is clearly brighter than the 900 lumen version. I bought 2 extra bateries so I can have around 11h of full light during my Audax events (all night rides).
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Seriously seriously bright light, great for on and off road use.
good size battery, lamp and battery are well constructed
Good battery life.
excellent build quality (except for battery pouch)
Cons: Fixed beam width, would be nice to have some adjustment for road use. may dazzle other drivers.
Battery pouch straps need better stitching, mine came off on first attachment (if it wasn't for this i would have given the lamp five stars for quality).
Lamp mounting system is too weak for offroad, the light moves over bumps. is fine for around town.
Other: overall this was a very worthwhile purchase, a couple of small design modifications and it is perfect.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Stupid bright Great flood Great spot Easy to use Short cable Battery life indicator
Cons: none yet
Other: If you ride at night, buy this. Period.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: The Magicshine MJ-808E is bright. The build quality is mostly very good. The battery pack mounted to my frame very nicely and stayed put. It looks like a quality product. The colored LED to indicate remaining battery capacity is nice, and also allows you to still see your bike when the light is turned off.
Cons: Assembly wasn't perfect. The grommet for the wire wasn't fitted properly, and the screw for the mount was loose. Also, this screw should be just a little longer in my opinion. I took the mount off, fixed re-fitted the grommet, and then used a little blue Loctite on the screw. The mounting system is not totally secure on polished carbon bars. It would probably be better on aluminum bars with a matte finish.
Other: Even with the flaws I pointed out, I think it's still a good light and a great value. I would buy it again.
