Pros: Possibly one of the brightest zooming light of this size/price range.
I have X2000 I've modified with R2, which is 10 to 20% brighter than normal one with P4.
And this one shines the area of twice the diameter compared to X2000 - R2, as bright or even slightly brighter than X2000 - R2.
When it's zoomed to max, it shines about 20% larger area (the width/height of the square die image), as bright or slightly less bright compared to X2000 - R2.
Compared to ordinary X2000 (with P4), it's brighter in flood and zoom.
The build quality seems to be good enough, other than the rattling head issue I'll mention, later.
With 3 x AAA, it's a bit less bright, but still pretty good.
Cons: It's 2cm longer and about 4mm larger than X2000.
The bigger size isn't always negative for everyone, though.
The head rattles a bit, and slide too easily.
I guess the design precision (or machining) isn't perfect.
But this type of problem can be usually fixed by using o-ring, Teflon tapes, etc.
The color is slightly in the purple side.
Not that bad, but I prefer a little more to the warmer (yellow) side.
I don't like lots of modes (annoying strobe, in this case). I just want to have On/OFF, or 2 modes, Hi,Lo,Off.
At least this one doesn't have (almost) useless SOS and 3 modes are not so bad.
Other: If you like zooming light, you would probably like this.
Now it's confirmed to come with 3 x AAA adapter (like what I got).
So, we can use it with both 18650 and 3 x AAA, and it's always good to have alternatives!
Also, I may recommend this version that comes with the charger if you like to have annoying 5 modes and you like orange tail switch better than green one. :)

Other possible alternatives to this light:

Another 2 x 18650
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/xt6-cree-xm-l-t6-800lm-5-mode-white-led-flashlight-2-x-18650-113836
Accept 18650, 3 x AAA, and big fat 26650!

Rotating zooming mechanism and slightly more compact.

This one accept both 18650 and 3 x AAA, too.
Sipik SK68 style and possibly the smallest (and better heatsinking) and cheapest (because it comes with 18650 battery) but with 5 annoying modes. (Not compatible with 3 x AAA, most probably)

I'll probably order this one, as I like Sipik SK68, very much.
Same as above, with the charger. A nice model for a gift to someone who doesn't have 18650 battery/charger.

Similar to Sipik. Trustfire version. Nice color, and the mode memory. Slightly more expensive.

It comes with strap, rather than clip.
More expensive, and I don't like the design.

Similar to above, and the most expensive. But it comes with lots of things like battery/charger and parts.

Ugly Ultrafire model. 1 or 2 18650. It's a bit like C78. 3 modes.

Cheapest? Rotating zooming mechanism. I like the design and the color.

Pros: Bright! Takes either 3xAAA (holder included) or a single appropriate lithium cell (loosely fits 18650). Widest beam setting is very wide and narrowest setting is very tight.
Cons: Zooming/sliding head is way way too loose. Can't stay in position and rattles quite a bit. Shake the flashlight at all and it slides around on its own. You have to hold the zooming bit in place or it will freely shift from where you wanted it - this ruins the flashlight. Not waterproof in the least. Very susceptible to dirt and sand getting inside the loose head.
Other: Zoom doesn't function properly at all; can't suggest anyone buy this if they want a reliable useful flashlight. With some modifications this might work - it is super bright and takes common AAA cells. Unfortunately since the head slides around so loosely, I find it undesirable.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: good value for $$ adequate to good build quality fairly bright (but could be more) head moves very well, nicely damped action
Cons: drains 18650 Li-ion battery pretty fast gets too hot too quickly, poor thermel regulation 3 X AAA batt. carrier spring was broken (on my copy)
Other: Yes it has some flaws, but to use occasionally for throw for a minute or two at a time... and for $17 US I can't complain. Also...the zooming head on mine functions great...not loose at all as others here have mentioned. The head dissasembly exposes a lock ring to be tightened if needed and allows access to add thermal paste (which I would recommend).
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This is a really nice torch, zoomed for maximum flood coverage it'll completely flood an area with light, zoomed for maximum distance it'll go for 75-100m. At that zoom it's interested to see that the light beam is square and it projects a perfect image of the XM-L emittter onto whatever you're illuminating.
Cons: None really.
Other: A very bright torch, worth the price.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: The flashlight arrived in perfect condition. The light is very strong - cold white - better than the X2000 flashlight (SKU- 14450). Unlike previous reviews, there are no loose parts and the flood/zoom mechanism is not loosened.
Cons: No negative comments
Other: Weight: 195 g (18650 batt included) Length (flood position) : 13.5 cm Length (zoom position) : 16.0 cm
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Bright, did I mention bright. can zoom from Flood to spot. Can take 3 1.5v AAA batter which fit into an adaptor or 1 18650 Batteries seem to last a good long while.
Cons: At full zoom the lines of the LED are visible in the light that is thrown. If one uses a 18650 battery it is not a snug fit there is quite alot of play between Torch body and the Battery The zoom lens is getting a little lose in the front, not too bad but I hope it doesn't get worse
Other: A VERY bright torch that is well worth the price
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: I gives a really impressing strong light. it's small and easy to use it's a really god flashlight for a small price.
Cons: No one yet. I haven't tested it long enough to see how long the battery last.
Other: Well worth the price.. Bought the UltraFire BRC 18650 3.7V 3600mAh Rechargeable Lithium Batteries ( Nr: 51988 ) and charger ( Nr: 13820 ) and it works great..
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very inexpensive to use with 3*AAA batteries Useful in both near and far. Smooth and even light beam. The build quality is ok.
Cons: A battery-18650 does not fit without modification because the 18650 is too thin. On full zoom, the LED diode shows up on the wall like a projector image. But a minimal decline blurs the image of the emitter. No real "con" but I must mention it.
Other: Buy one, you will not regret it.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It is a compact (remember you can use it with 18650 battery) zoom flashlight. The case finish is well made. The torch has a thermal grease added between the LED base and the case. Of course it is very bright due to XM-L T6 LED. It can stay on a tail cap.
Cons: The case doesn't have any labels or marks, not actually a con. Can't find any other con yet.
Other: Good torch for money.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Great feel Metal body Adjustable focus changing from spotlight to a much wider beam without any light loss. Fun to use!
Cons: None so far!
Other: I love it
