Pros: When it arrived, i was positively surprised about build quality and size: thought it would be smaller.
It carries a nice solar panel. When the sun shines, a small motor with an assymetrical axis starts rotating (like the vibrating motor in a cell phone).
Cons: - It needs a lot of light to start: no TL light or indirect solar light will work, unless you use a light bulb at close range.
- It vibrates: you just have to guess where he's going to...
Other: It doesn't do much other than vibrating in the sun but it is a nice educational gadget.
If you count in the price than this is a must-have for greenies.

Pros: Cheap, really cheap. Nice look. Easy to use. Low weight. It looks like a real insect at first look :) (A will surprise my mother in law - she gonna crazy :) )
Cons: It needs really strong light to make a vibration. My halogen desk lamp (40W) react with it only if distance between 2-3" (5-7cm) Outdoor at normal light it does not move. Eyes of that toy not have sufficiently glue and they drops often.
Other: If solar panel was a little more efficient (makes more voltage) it will be a nice.

Pros: The solar locust is a sort of bristlebot: a pager motor activated by the sun shining on the solar cell makes him buzz and move all arount on flat surfaces.
Great build quality, a very eye-catching little nice toy!
Cons: Here now it's winter, I cannot test its efficiency under direct sunlight;
Obviously works with halogen or incandescent lamps too, but requires high wattage lamps or near light sources to gain enough energy to start buzzing.
Not a real con, definitely!
Other: really, really nice!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's a nice toy for an extremely cheap price, it doesn't do anything special except vibrating but it's just nice to see it work purely on solar energy.
Cons: It only works when in contact with direct sunlight, so on a cloudy day it doesn't work, also there is no on / off switch
Other: Green energy toy, it's nice to see things can also work in a environmental friendly way instead of using batteries all the time.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Nice design. Decent build quality. Cute. Unique. Kids love it. No batteries needed.
Cons: Needs a bright flash light or incandescent bulb. Needs fairly bright sunlight. Don't expect a wimpy flashlight to work with it.
Other: Unique little item. Fun for awhile.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's a nice solar powered vibrobot. Put it under the sun and will start to move. No battery, no installation, a real not-plug&play.
Cons: The design is not so good and the bug moves in all directions. A small improvement on the legs of the bug will solve/improve this issue (at zero cost to the factory).
Other: A toy that could be more than a toy! Let your kids use their brain!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - unique toy that the kids (ages 5 and 6) find fascinating - it doesn't require batteries - looks well made
Cons: - build quality looks good, but I bought 2 and 1 didn't work - the antenna and the eyes come off easily and make this not appropriate for very small children - doesn't really do much, the bug shakes when but into the sunlight but don't expect it to look like it is walking or hopping - requires direct sunlight and will not work with indoor lighting
Other: Fun toy with a good price that can entertain kids and may even be somewhat educational. Looks good but reliability and durability are not the best.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's about 1/3 the price compared to other places. It's neat looking It's simple to use once you know how to use it It's fun
Cons: There's no specific instruction so you think that it doesn't work but it just requires a very strong light directly on top of it. Room light is not sufficient. It really doesn't look like a bug since the solar panel is rectangular. The roach looks more like a bug but I didn't get that.
Other: It's a fun toy to play with but most people will quickly lose interest in it. It's pretty useless but cheap and demonstrates solar energy.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's really simple to use (just put it in the sun. duh), seems to be built alright, has nice googly eyes, vibrates a fair bit (so much that it can wiggle itself off any smooth surface)
Cons: requires pretty bright sun or a good lamp to work (which is not a problem in Brisbane),
Other: this is a good product, cheap, works right out of the box, a great present for children (and maybe adults too). I'm going to buy a few more for upcoming birthdays.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Works just as you expect it to work. Really fun to watch! The solar panel is really effective! The second the sunlight hits the panel it starts jumping around.
Cons: It takes almost direct sunlight in the morning or in the late evening. If there are clouds in the way the locust will propably stop. But once the sun comes behind the clouds it's good to go again.
Other: A simple novelty locust which works really great to give the extra spark to the day.
