O-FLASH Ring Flash Adapter for Nikon SB600/SB800 + Canon 430EX/430EX II + More

Pros: It comes at an affordable price and is a good solution for the CASUAL macro shooter who cannot justify the price of a dedicated ring flash. Build quality is okayish.

Cons: Fitting this to the 430ex is not easy, the flange is wider than the flash head and despite my efforts to fit the velctro strap as tight as possible it tends to slide forward. When this happens, the adapter is no longer "sealed" to the flash head and when the flash fires some light gets dispersed instead of going into the ring. Also, the rubber of the flange is quite hard and at the bottom protudes against the "elbow point" of the the flashgun.

Other: Buy this if you want to play with macro photography for a while. Do not buy it if you plan to do serious macro shooting (get a true ring flash instead). Do not buy it if you intend to shood handheld, because it will not stay in place!

Pros: Also fits other flash types, fits quite easily without forcing things, good build quality.

Cons: A bit bigger than I expected, but not a real problem

Other: Unlike most true macro ring flash equipment, this adapter works well for lenses with a larger filter size. It also works for portraits (as long as you stay at a relatively short distance). Luckuly, I have a large camera bag, and this ring flash adapter will find a permanent place there.
