What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Adds rather fast USB3 to most laptops with a PCMCIA style cardbus slot, my laptop had USB2, this slotted straight in
Cons: doesn't seem to provide enough power to spin up a 2.5" external style drive, I need to route through an external USB3 hub. My 3.5" external desktop style drive works well though. Summary, you can't use the USB3 port for 2.5" portable hard drives.
Other: Cheap way to add USB3 to most laptops
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Affordable way to boost add USB 3.0 Pretty fast
Cons: It could be my laptop - seems to unseat easily from the slot It runs a bit hot
Other: The CD came with a bunch of drivers, make sure you use the right one! It is not the NEC one. It installs and works on Windows 7 without any issues. Got noticeably faster read speeds 20 MB/s, but write speeds to a Class10 SD card was about 1.5 MB/s. I transferred a 300 MB video from the card and it took over six minutes on USB 2.0, but with this card it took less than one minute! A 1 GB file took close to three minutes.
