Pen Style Non Contact AC Voltage Detector (90V~1000V/2*AAA)

Pros: Extremely cheap, atleast when compared to Fluke's same product. Works, easy to use, indicator light is good and sensitivity quite good. Does not need current to flow on the conductors, detects potential (I would imagine someone might have done one with Hall-sensors only also).

Cons: Battery compartment cover will probably break after a few battery changes. Sensitivity is both good and bad: on some outlets it does not show anything and on some all outputs indicate voltage. On all wire I tested it worked perfectly though. I live in Finland so the tip does not fit into a euro outlet holes.

Other: For it's price it is VERY good, not perfect but I would suggest buying it, quite handy: no need to peel wires and use a multimeter to see if power is connected, also good for checking live, neutral/ground on wires, not that good on outlets.

Pros: - Sensitive, selective: can distinguish between live and neutral wires even close together. (tested here in Finland)
- Cheap
- Good indication
- Relatively good size (a bit heavy with the batteries)
- Indicates also just potential (voltage), does not need current to flow in the wires.

Cons: - No sound indication
- Battery compartment lid will probably break after several battery changes
- Does not fit INTO a wall outlet hole in Finland (flat end, not round)

Other: Very good for it's price, I would recommend to everyone doing some small electrical work. I would not rely my life to it's indication (wires cold. I bought another for my father as a gift.

Pros: - Cheap, the same "brand name" item costs ten times more - Works very well, it's quite sensitive and detects voltage even in many devices if you put it near

Cons: - Not 100% reliable (doesn't always detect the presence of the AC voltage in the cases where you expect it to) - The end is FLAT which means by default it won't fit inside the holes of Euro or Schuko outlets. HOWEVER, (see below)

Other: Great tool, especially useful if you need to detect presence of electricity when you have many wires together. Note however, it should _NOT_ be used as a replacement for a contact voltage detector as it is not always 100% accurate

Pros: Product is very sensitive (with few limitations - see Cons).

Cons: Minor Grievances only: -Battery slot is a bit tacky to open. -Like most cheap things, you may need to get an angle on it. It would sometimes not light up without my reangling the device.

Other: This product is well worth the money and if I ever find myself needing another one, I'll be heading right back here. (Just don't rely on it for life threatening situations)

Pros: Good, nice product, doing the job: detects existance of voltage, in non-contacting method, gives a red light detection signal. Good way, to detect existance of voltage, when it is difficult, to measure by a DVM or a screwdriver-tester, such as long cables, with no ability to cut them, for the measurement.

Cons: Not found.

Other: Good Item, in a very good price.

Pros: Cheap. Long battery life (over 6 months and counting with occasional use) Helps with troubleshooting. Light weight. Easy to use. Safe.

Cons: You get what you paid for. It is not as easy as quickly plugging it in. Sometimes you need to move it around to get a reading.

Other: It's good if you work on construction sites and not too sure where a live outlet is. Or if you work with electronics and need to verify that the outlet you are using is working.

Pros: .works very well .is very cheap, in my country costs like 10 time more .is very easy to use .is not dangerous to use it because you dont need to cut any cable or nothing .the light is bright enough

Cons: .the quality is not the best .doents comes with batteries .doest bring a package .could be usefull a swich to turn it off

Other: im fasinated with it, i extremely recomend it for any kind of use, professional and hobbi

Pros: - Cheap - Small enough - Bright light

Cons: - Tight battery cover (but made from thin plastic). You need patience and accuracy to open it. - If the cable is thick (more than about 5 mm) it may not to show voltage from all sides of the cable. And you must move it around the cable for testing. (Not good if the cable fixed and you have not well access to it from all sides!) - The very large distance of detection fro some plugs. (Sometimes it overrides nearby socket.)

Other: Good thing for it's price.

Pros: Very good and useful tool for everyone who feels need to work with electricity! Product that is useful for personal safety. Compulsory for every bag of tools. Using the product is easy and everyone can work with it. I am very pleased with this acquisition. There's a facility that you can check for voltage without cable or prune looking bare parts.

Cons: Small, easy to use. Cheap.
